    Default Ear candles

Jess and I tried this. At the end we cut the cones open and there was bunch of wax inside. But a family member researched the candling, and she says it's a hoax because the wax is actually from the beeswax on the cones. She also says it's dangerous. What do y'all think?

    Complete quackery.

Hahaha, me too! My dad does this. I always have a lot of wax in one of my ears only, the other is clear wax.

Is this normal, or should I do an irrigation of sorts? It doesn't affect my hearing and I kind of like gently q-tipping it to find a gob of yellow wax on the tip when I pull it out.

Gross? Perhaps? Its just something the body makes that is neither dangerous nor unsanitary.

I've heard that the results are fake and it could be dangerous as well but the people who told me that still use them.

I don't know if normal people have access to it but if your ears are clogged bad if you go to the ear doctor they can suction all that stuff out. Everything will be so loud after words its almost frightening. Its what they do to you before they give you tubes. When I get it, it does hurt like a mo but then again I do have and ear infection.

It's really surreal to hear that well.

Haha, taste the wax and see if it is ear wax, then youll know!

I wouldnt think theyre dangerous. I tried to use them on an ex once and we got no result. His ears were badly clogged though - the worst case the Dr had ever seen, lol.

Afterwards, I didn't notice any difference whatsoever. Neither of us have hearing problems or anything wrong with our ears. After reading those links, I don't see the point in doing the candles again.

I've heard wonderful stories about them from people who actually got it done but have also heard other things on the internet. personally, i've never done the ear candles but i go to an ear doctor once or twice a year (whatever he recommends) and he has some tool to suck the wax out.

My ex went to a "reputable " place near where we were living and had this done, he was having hearing issues in one ear and someone suggested to give this a try.

Well, to make a long story short this girl who admitted afterward she did not have alot of experience, litearally ended up pouring hot wax right into his ear!!!

So if he had ear issues before he defintely had worse ones when he left.

But sometime after that he went somewhere else and tried it again and swore he loved it so you just never know I guess. I was surprised he even wanted to try this again after the pain of the last time.

I asked my doctor about this and he said our ears clean themselves naturally and its generally not a great idea to poke around in there .

I say if you like it and it works our for you go for it, to each his own.

My friend did it to me once, but she only had one candle. We did one ear, and I swear I could hear better out of the ear she cleaned! Maybe it is a hoax, but it felt good in the end and I had someone there doing it for me so I wouldn't burn my hair.
