    Default Poor Quality Sleep

I am getting very poor quality sleep. I can sleep 12 hours lately and still not feel rested, groggy, lazy, and moody. It also doesn't help that I seem to have a bladder issue that has me pee a lot. So my sleep is also interrupted at least 3 times a night to go pee, even if I did not drink before bed.

WTF man? I am not getting anything done. I work, go home, and veg because I'm so unrested and exhausted. I planned to clean today, go to the laundromat, etc because it's my day off and my house is a mess and triggering my allergies.

But I ended up so tired that I napped. I slept 10 hours today and still napped. And I still feel sleep deprived.

And before somebody suggests oversleeping, no. I feel this way no matter how little or how much sleep I get.

I've been sleeping sorta crap since the Daylight Saving day, but I'm not sure that applies here. Any new meds? Are you preg by chance? Maybe just all your moving and stress is catching up with you? Allergies also make me drowsy and sleepy ALL the time.

Are you still taking Benadryl before bed?

Ugh. Benadryl knocks me out, but I don't feel like I slept. In fact worse, I feel like a zombie, half drugged, for the rest of the day.

Not DST. AZ doesn't do that. I've felt like this for about 2 months now. Not preggo, no new meds. Allergies JUST started acting up this week, so I don't think it's that (or only that) Stress maybe, but how do I get good sleep despite stress?

No. Once I left CA I just stopped taking it regularly and had no withdrawal symptoms. I've only taken it 2x since I came to AZ.

I love Kava tea. I take Hyland's Insomnia homeopathic pills, because I generally can't get to sleep under stress, alternating with passing out for long stretches. You could also try their Calms Forte, which is supposed to be fantastic. They aren't too expensive, despite being found at health food stores.

It could very easily be stress related... Any chance you're depressed at all? That was how I was when going through my brief depression... tons and tons of sleep but it really didn't make rested... Was just a way to escape.

I am very depressed. But I don't feel I sleep to get away; I sleep to feel rested and it depresses me even more when I don't feel rested.

They have a day version and a night version. Maybe try the day calming ones? Since you are already sleeping so much? I can't take them because they have chamomile (SO allergic), but I've had better luck with homeopathy than regular meds. Maybe your sleep is just so light it's not doing a thing? Kava works for me, as a tea, when I am having a panicky day.

Day Calming? Won't that make me more likely to be sluggish?

Well I'm not expert but I think the depression could very easily be the root of the problem... You body is resting but your mind is not, or something of that nature...

You might be sleeping too much. I feel groggy an unrested when I oversleep too; you really don't need 10-12 hours.

I can sleep 6,7,8, or 9 hours and still feel poorly.

jester, probably. But i don't know how I'm supposed to get happy again if the depression is keeping me sleepy.

Sorry, not making sense! I meant to try the 'lighter' version at night. Instead of full on sleepy drug. I don't get sluggish on Kava, I actually feel more capable because I'm less tense. Though it works before sleep as well. I think calm=better sleep and better awake. I hope that made more sense. If not I type more tomorrow.

Well there's always the Tony Soprano route (pharmaceuticals) not sure if you've tried that before... great for some, terrible fore others...

I hear you. Up your vitamin C to 1.5 grams a day, try to get 200-400 mgs of magnesium a day (I was surprised by how much this helped) and water, water, water.
I fell behind recently so have spent today pounding down all three.

I agree that it might be depression. I go through this from time to time. In fact, I've been going through it for the past few weeks now. I wish I could give you some advice, but I haven't really figured out how to fix it. All I know is that in my case it usually passes after a few weeks or so. It's like the fog suddenly lifts and I'm back to normal. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

Depending on how badly you snore, that can fuck your sleep up. It does mine. I'm getting a deviated septum fixed in May to see if that helps. I'll keep going from there until I solve it.

Argh. My period is here. Maybe that's part of it. I always feel sleepy but never rested on my period.
