Default church group came to protest!

Has this ever happened at anyone else's club? A church group came and stood outside our club last night, protesting and generally making a nuisance of themselves. WTF?! I'm all for freedom of speech and whatnot, but I'd say that's a little uncalled for. I've got a mind to go down to their church parking lot and start handing out fliers for our strip club. Because that's basically the same thing that they're doing. It's inappropriate and rude. Why can't these people just live and let live?

Because they'll never be satisfied until all of us 'immorals' are reformed...

Where?! I've heard of a couple young (obnoxious) dudes at Velvet (who even protest First Friday art walks), but that's it. WTF is up with this fucking city right now?

*I don't know if its taboo to mention club names...*

thursday night a few ladies came in our club with all these gift bags saying they just wanted to give us ladies gifts just because. i SMELLED God on them because i had to ask, "what's the catch??"

"No catch! Want one? There is a yankee candle inside."

hell yes i want a free candle. so i look in the bag and... there WERE goodies... but among the goodies there was a pamphlet about how you can reform to get into God's good graces. they were trying to guilt/bribe us.

    lame.

That happened to me when I was working at a new club that opened in a richy, snobby, constipated area of town around here. They were everywhere and they even brought their kids along. It was pretty sad. I actually saw a lady tell her kid to start crying and the kid did! I just ignored them (free publicity!) but I still had my bf drop me off and pick me up. I didn't want those freaks screwing with my car.

That sounds like the group that had that article in Glamour, with the pamphlets and gifts. Fuck them.

I just hope it doesn't become a regular occurence. It really messes with everyone's mood. The dancers, customers, management - everyone's edgy and defensive.

if you strip, you aren't in God's good graces (the Christian God).

that said, it's rude to stand outside a titty bar and 'protest'. you can't make someone love Jesus. That's up to Jesus, pure and simple. and He wasn't rude to neighbors. His great-plus grammas were hookers and mistresses, after all.

Just ask who Rahab was to those folks protesting, let them know about her. Hooker who was an ancestress of Christ. Or Bathsheba. David's mistress before becoming his wife, and ultimately an ancestress of Christ.

Christianity is complicated. confront those folks on their faith, and their understanding (or lack) of it.

Starlight Ministries isn't like this. They are local to VA, and come in and tip the girls, but their goal is to minister without judging.

According to their own book they are not even fit to judge whether they, themselves are in the good graces of God, let alone others. According the the Apostle Paul, only the Lord is fit to judge such things.

At my home club we have prayer groups that actually get collage class credit for standing around in the parking lot. Smoking cigarettes and generaly being creepy for two hours a night. Friday and Saturday usually.

They say they are praying for us (the immoral strip club employee and us girls)
To get home safe and change our life for the better.

Suuuuuuuuure. Ill get right on that.

    sort of...(to dottierebel)

stripping involves directing others to sin. that's pretty solidly anti-Jesus.

again, that said, self-righteousness is ALSO a sin.

I would have to find a way to fuck with them. I just couldn't let them stand there peacefully. There has to be something hilarious and sacreligious to do to piss them off.

I've had charges pressed against a crazy woman who started smacking me with a Bible while working at a Halloween themed event. She was arrested for assault and a few other things (I'm not exactly sure what but she was causing a scene and being a disrespectful cunt to the cops). I'm not sure I would want to follow through with charges if I was working in a strip club for something that was minor but it is a possibility if they start getting like that.

why was Christ kind to a 'sinful woman' (sexworker, according to the standards of the day)?

i am here because i care for those who are here. one might say i shouldn't, but i do because i don't think we live in a world where women can always refuse stripping or escorting or any other sexwork.

part of being a Christian is recognising that people will sin, and that you will sin too and not getting self-righteous about it.

i understand why stripping is tempting. it tempts me sometimes. i contemplate heading down to oregon and braving the racisms to dance anyway. i did it for close on three years, after all. i sometimes envy the girls here who've only worked no-contact and don't know what it's like to turn down 20 requests that you fuck (for 100 bucks, because you are la negra, after all) in a night and still make 500 or more dancing clean.

i am here out of love. some of you are fiction and some of you are real, and i love you all anyhow.

The frustrating thing is anything you could possibly do validates them. if you listen to them, they think they got somewhere. If they get arrested or something, they think they're a martyr.

I also think it would be incredible to go to their church and flier for the club- hand out fliers and preach to them about leaving this awful place of torment (the church), having reformed church goers there evangelical revival style. I need to stop.

This is just my personal opinion, but it seems that the most so-called devout christians are the most hateful people I've ever met. Homo-sexuals, strippers etc. need to be "saved". Bull shit, YOUR ass needs to be saved because you're so busy judging everyone else, you can't even see your own sins, pre-marital sex, lust, envy etc. They're all sins that devout christians commit but apparently, homo sexuality and "sex workers" are committing bigger sins than them. It's nice to know there are human sin calculators out there to let us know which sins are more significant than others. A sin is a sin is a sin.

I also have to disagree with miabella....strippers direct others to sin? That's bullshit. I've never once seen a stripper walking the streets and begging men to come see her at the club. So now, it's a sin to look at naked women? Well, there goes any television/movie experience you wanted to watch. I'd say we're all pretty much fucked then. Might as well take the mirrors out of the bathroom.

And please don't take this the wrong way because it is a legitimate question....what does you being "la negra" have to do with men asking you for sex? Do you really think that the clean dancers don't get solicited for sex? I'm sure they deal with hundreds of offers a week. I understand what your race has to do with the racism in your area, but the rest just wasn't clicking in my head. Any woman is going to get solicited for sex. I've never danced a day in my life and I have to turn down offers for sex on a daily basis.
