Where do you get them for your home and do they have to be brass?? I'm making a place to party after the bars close between my house and the garage and want a pole in there for looks and or dancing on.

you can just get a steel pole from any place that sells steel and cut the length that you need. a few girls from my pole school got their SO's to do that for them as it's cheaper than buying one.
But here are some ones you can buy:

ebay even has some. but if you're a handy-man it will be much cheaper for you to buy a length of steel pole and make one yourself - Djoser has made his own one.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

And it will work the same?

I have a lilmynx and I really like it. It's easy to remove.
Sassysummer sells them if you want to support the SW family! Hers are great and pretty cheap too. I bought a stationary pressure mounted(so I can take it down or move itif I want to) from her for $200 shipped.I like it so much I"ve sent like 4 of my friends to her site to buy theirs! And they all love theirs too.

Lil ' mynx ! I love mine.

If you know a bit about construction you can get a pole for 20$, including mounting things, but when the dancers try to play on it they might be annoyed, unless they are looking for a challenge. that would be using the electrical conduit pipe like I did. But if I were you, I'd go with at least stainless steel, if not brass. It's worth the money.

you seem like a handy man who could fit and install it no problem. Call a machinist and have him cut you a length of brass pole.
