    Default Velocity Diet

    I'm starting the velocity diet for women as soon as my stuff shows up. I'm gonna be outta comission for awhile and figure it will be easy, fairly healthy and not time consuming. Here's the link for anyone interested. I"ll post before and after pics when I'm done.

    I would love to try this after i am done breastfeeding so probaly in the fall if all goes well breastfeeding.

    I already substitute 2 meals a day with shakes, so I'm hoping that doing it all day won't be a big deal. I love the ease, love it. Eating at work will be so easy. If anyone does this, I would substitute whey and egg protein alternated instead of t-nation's stuff. It's great, but too expensive. Then instead of flameout, CLA and Green tea. It's also cheaper that way. I'm using hot rox, not the extreme kind because i"m stimulant sensitive. It will be easy for E to prepare also while I'm recouperating, because well, it's just powder and water! I'll let you know when the stuff arrives and I start. I have an allergy to casein, so that cuts out that type of protein, but I would recommend using it to you as well.

    Weights and measures EVERY day? Was this diet written by a man who doesn't know about our monthly cycles.

    It sounds pretty lame, although I wouldn't be opposed to doing a liquid, high-protein diet for about 3 days, as I've gained back a bunch of weight from drinking.

    Well I'm not weighing and measuring every day. I think it's a typo, as I spoke with one of his nutrition team members and that's what he told me. Not only do I NOT have time for daily, but it will make me SUPER obsessed.

    Um. no. There is no way I could not eat solid food for almost a month. That, to me, is very unhealthy. By simple discipline; watching what you eat combined with exercise, ANYBODY who really wants to can lose the weight. I gained weight from the holidays, and I've already lost 10 lbs in about 3 weeks by doing just that.

    As far as crash diets I've seen, this isn't *half* bad. A lot of them work by destroying muscle mass, which is why people gain more weight afterwards and end up feeling tired and sick. This one seems to be oriented towards gaining & keeping muscle mass. It seems nutritionally doable.

    Good luck, this doesn't sound like something I could handle, but I love seeing real before/after pics of ANYTHING so I'm excited for you!

    ETA:
    btw, if I was guaranteed to have the stomach on that website, I'd *attempt* this diet in a heartbeat, these abs rock!

    I've just never been a 'special' diet person. Ever. I believe in eating healthy and exercising for the rest of your life. I've seen too many people try out different types of diets, and then a few months later they've just gained all of the weight back and then some. It can be a vicious cycle. To me, fitness and nutrition is a lifestyle.... not just something one does to lose some quick poundage. ...But to each her own. I guess the main point is to go for what works for you. I know there are some eating habits that I have that some nutritionists would be against, but they work for me, and I've been doing them for years... and I will continue to do them.

    I want you to understand that I've lost a lot of weight with a nutritionally sound diet lifestyle. I spoke with 3 nutritionist and dieticians about doing a shock diet to bust me out of this plateau. Many doctors believe that doing 1 "diet" per every few years is perfectly healthy as long as it's not long term. From the results I've seen and heard this is very doable and the fat stays off.
    I agree, Mily, it's a lifestyle you should follow. That's how I lost over 60 pounds. But I've been stuck here, and I'm going to try something short term to see if I can bust past this point. Then I will gladly go back to my lifestyle.
    Also, I know my body fairly well. If there is something I sense going wrong, I will immediately quit and return to regular healthy eating.
    I appreciate your concern and input!

    ^I should also add that I exercise very regularly and change up workouts to ensure that's not the reason I'm platuead. (sp?)

    I post daily (or as close to as I can) about how I'm feeling. My stuff came, and I'm starting tomorrow.

    Today was day number one, and I have made it succesfully. In one way it was hard, in another easy. I always remembered to eat, not a problem.LOL
    1 hour after each shake I'd feel starving for about 20 minutes..then the feeling would pass and not come back until it was time to eat again.
    My third shake made me feel REALLY sick. I don't believe it was the shake though. I'm pretty sure it was the fiber chewables. I took 1 serving, which is 2, and I was so sick to my stomach. I ended up just pucking this strawberry flavored gelatin crap. I'm assuming those were the fiber chewables (they were fruity flavored) After I threw up though I felt better.
    Minot bloating and gas, which is normal starting out with.
    I never felt tired or run down. Just occasionally had hunger pains. My metabolism should settle into this diet and start getting accustomed to things. I'm switching up the types of proteins so reduce bloating. It seems to help, as I already know casein does a number on me. I'm using on whey and egg. The egg protein is the most comfortable on my tummy, but I have the (excuse me for this) smelliest gas. I'm really hoping that goes away.
    The whey hurts the tum a little, but not as bad as the casein. That stuff is BRUTAL.

    It's only the fiber chewables that made me puke. Everything else is OK. I've been informed that I need to rotate in more types of protein. That will make it much more tolerable.

    Today I picked up some Soy protein and YUMMY. It tastes better, keeps me fuller longer an doesn't upset my tummy. No nausea, pain or irritable bloating. This will make things MUCH easier. The funny thing is so far I really haven't craved foods. I'm usually a MAJOR food craver.

    Yeah, stick to the soy. If you're having stomach problems with casein and whey protein, you might have a celiac-type sensitivity. My partner does and that kind of thing can spiral out of control with too much exposure.

    I've done the velocity diet a couple of times it works but then again so would any diet with such a calorie deficit. I found it pretty easy to handle for the first three weeks then fell off the diet after week 3 because I felt like shit in the gym.

    Everytime I have done it my strength has fallen like crazy but the results in fat loss more than warrent it.

    Maybe I should try it, I don't need to lose even 10lb of weight though, and I can't see how this diet would be able to create that 10-20lb of loss from fat alone. If anything, the first few pounds will be water, and the rest will be fat and muscle.

    If I did it for 2 weeks, could I lose about 4-5lb of fat? That's all I really need. I asked my trainer about this diet and she told me to stop being such a fucking retard. J/k, but she doesn't recommend it given my lifestyle and schedule.

    Hey not trying to Hijack the thread, I looked at the velocity diet and it looks cool. I do something similar it's the Kefir and yogurt diet, I do it for three days I always manage to lose about 5 pounds and keep it off. I do it between phase I and II of the South Beach diet. Since Christmas I've lost 50 pounds of fat and gianed ten pounds muscle.
    It goes like this:
    You need Kefir Grains first here's a Wikipedia sight explaining, I am sure a lot of you know what it is already But in case you don't:

    I make it at home for the diet. I also do home made yogurt.
    You can make this with any milk including soy or almond. If you are actually casein or lactose sensitive the little probiotics digest all that stuff and make it so you may be able to tolerate it. It doesn't matter what percent fat your milk is either though non, 1% and 2% work best.
    Morning:

    Kefir with honey or splenda your choice fruit or fruits of your choice 1 cup each. Put in the blender with ice and make smoothie.
    next yogurt of your choice, good store bought is Nancy's or Stoney Field farms they have more than just 2 strains of live active cultures.Soy yogurt is good too.
    Again 1 cup Kefir same as before or you can make Gezspacho or Borscht out of it to change things up.
    Then 1 cup yogurt your choice. Low sugar ones are best.
    Kefir again.
    Yogurt again.
    You eat six times. This diet doesn't leave me hungry at all. The only thing that happened the first time was a Jarisch Herxheimer affect and here's a link explaining that:

    You get the reaction because the probiotics are battling the bad stuff in your system auch as bad fungus and pathogenic colorectal bacteria like ecoli. They give off toxins and you don't the best for a couple of days, but after you feel better than you have in years. I have also found Kefir for me to be superior in muscle building for me, and I think that's why my weight stays off once I'm done with the 3 days. It helps insulin uptake into muscle cells.     It's a great kick start when things aren't going well or you're plateaued. It always seems to rev the metabolism and get the body going. Also here's some information on vitamin C and metabolism. It inhibits cortisol, bt hels in fat oxidation. I take 1,000 mg before and after workouts:
