necessary? no. but if youre working out you should be upping your protein intake anyway.

Thanks, I always wonder if it's just hype from the manufacturer of the bars and drinks or if it really has some truth to it.
My trainer told me to eat carbs within 90 minutes of working out.

My trainer told me to have protein, or a protein shake. But either way she recommends eating within an hour after working out.

Protein bars and drinks are usually either full of sugar or artificial sweeteners, both of which can interfere with weight loss!
Have some fish or eggs or yogurt or soybeans and keep the sugar out of it. :-) Non-sugar carbs are OK/good.
