Default Need lunch-break work out plan

I have gained 6lbs this year working at an office job. I have decided to spend my lunch hour at the gym Monday through Friday, but it takes about 15 min to get there up and back, so I only have 40-45 min to work out!
My goal is to drop 8lbs and tone up. I am carrying fat in my arms, stomach/hips, and thighs and my fat sticks. It's so hard for me to shed it.
The woman who signed me up for an account said to lose weight and tone up that. I should do 1/2 hour of strength training/weights, and then only 15 min of cardio. I thought that cardio made you lose weight...is she right or wrong?

Regardless, if you had 45 minutes a day, five days a week to work out, what would you do?

If you work out on your lunch hour are you going to eat lunch? Its spring and the weather is starting to get really nice. Maybe you could just pack an apple and yogurt or something and walk to a park to have your own little picnic. Even a 45 minute walk everyday will really slim you down. Cardio makes you lose weight because it spikes your metabolism.

Our office is super-casual so we eat whenever we feel like it. I would eat about an hour previous to the workout. I already signed up for the gym membership, so as long as I am paying, I wanna use it

Well the more muscle you have the more fat your body can burn. Weight training is more time consuming then cardio generally just because of position/machine changes and whatnot. I think you can easily weight train one target area each day in 15 minutes then hit the cardio for 20 or so. Don't forget to build in time to stretch before you start and again when you're done.

I'm like you-my fat is STUCK and its very difficult to lose it. What worked amazingly well for me was to do 20 minutes of cardio in the morning and then another 20 at night in addition to weight training. For me that meant 2 trips to the gym each day, but it was so worth it. I gained 40 pounds with my last pregnancy and it seemed no matter what I did I couldn't shake them. Started the 2 a days and that whole 40 was gone in 9 weeks. And I wasn't really dieting at all.

    Hope this helped!
