    Default Piercing Question

What's that ear piercing called where it has two holes at the top of the ear and they are joined with a bar?

I want to get it done and I don't know what it's called

I believe that's called an "industrial", though, like many piercings, there are probably a million different names.

    ah ha thanks all

I don't like what it looks like in that wikipedia pic though. Hope it doesn't look like that on me. I want my two holes to be closer together.

Anything is possible if you can find a piercer who makes their own jewelry.

Good. I definitely won't to a dodgy place to get it done.

I just googled it and I think the black jewelry looks really good too. I like the spacing of this one as well.

^^^ Agreed. You should go see the piercer to discuss placement and stuff and be prepared to have to come back another time to get pierced if they don't have the right jewellery on hand.

Also remember the first bar you have put in will be larger then the jewelry you can put in later as it leaves room for swelling. I loved my industrial piercing. Though mine wasn't at the top it went down a bit at an angle.

I took out a bunch of my piercings though when I started featuring

Yeah good idea. I want it to be done properly and how I want it the first time and not rush into it just to get it done.

That with the swelling makes sense.

How does it look after you took it out Cally?

It healed nicely after I took it out. I could still get it put back in. All I would need is the piercer to push through a bit for me. They did it for my tragus as well.

It takes about 6 months for a cartlidge piercing to heal completely. I had an industrial, tragus, 4 helix and 3 lobe piercings lol. Now I just have a helix, tragus and one lobe

Most industrials typically look like the second pic, so alot of places keep those bars on hand. Or at least, in all my experience going to parlors with friends they have.
Exotic dancing is like any other job.
If you work in an office, you wear dress shoes and a suit.
If you work in a restaraunt, you wear skid resistant shoes and a uniform.
If you work in a strip club, you wear 7" stilettos and lycra g-strings.

    Oh I'd miss them too!

I'm glad it healed well though because I'm not sure I will want it forever or take it out and have it look gross. Just don't think certain firms that I will be looking to get a job with will want me having it when I graduate uni

    Stupid corporate people

I miss my industrial...*sniffle* If it didn't hurt so god damn bad I'd get it pierced for a third time.

BF: I think that the industrial really set my GF apart. I thought it made her unique.

SS chiming in to say sorry for the double post. And that Boyfriend is drunk posting. LOL

Oww don't tell me it hurt that badly!!! When I googled it, it said that it was supposed to be the most painful ear piercing too!

The first time I cussed at the piercer enough to make HIS ears bleed. The second time I did it (with proper tools and autoclaved everything) I got a huge rush, but that's the masochist in me speaking. I rather enjoyed piercing it the second time. However, I've got impressive scar tissue in that area now.

Pain varies wildly. I know people who think their navel piercing hurt like a bitch but cartilage is a cakewalk. I didn't even feel the needle with my navel but cartilage was hell for me. YMMV.

Its funny... my tragus hurt like a SOB. Industrial and various other helix piercings didn't faze me. My navel tickled lol. My tongue I didn't even know the guy had done it until he tried to put my tongue back in my mouth

    AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH STOP!!! *covers eyes*

That whole needle through bone thing is freaking me out! (cartilage is bone isn't it?)

Hopefully I'm like you Cally and the pain is not sooo bad.

But I don't mind needles, so maybe it will be like that...

People's experiences of the actual piercing process seem to vary a lot but many seem to agree that ear cartilage piercings are unpleasant to heal. Be prepared not to sleep on that side for a while.

Which side do I get it on? Does it matter or is it just whatev? Do the different sides mean things? I haven't even thought about that...

aussiebelle be careful with the industrial though, when i was a piercer the other piercer in my shop was such an ass & would pierce so improperly... ie. he fucked up this one girls industrial b'cos he listened to where she wanted it placed although he should have told her no, her ear shape was funky and when he placed the holes where she wanted it made the barbell push & indent in her cartilidge, it also left her with a keloid on the back hole.
