    Default Introduction to fish...

Im not sure where to put this, but im wanting to start encorporating fish into my diet but dont know where to start.

I like canned tuna, is a tuna steak much different?
I dont like salmon at all and prawns im not too sure about as i havent eaten it in yrs.
I like cod and haddock battered from the fish and chip shop.
I'm just a little clueless, i dont like fish to smell really fishy if you know what i mean and i think that puts me off.
sorry for the random topic im tired today lol

Tuna steak is WAY differant. Its usually seared..so basically raw in the middle. I like tuna salad...HATE tuna steak.

I'm a picky eater, but I think trout is delicious. I never found it fishy. Depends on how fish is made I guess? Flounder is good, so's catfish. Are you doing this for health reasons?

I never had a tuna steak. I have had a swordfish steak though and it was horrible!

I like fish steamed, pan seared, raw, baked... basically cooked any way except battered and fried.

I love tuna steak, but I like it cooked. Most people tend to just sear the outside and serve it raw in the middle, Japanese-style, but I hate that. Throw mine on the grill and cook it until it's flaky and done!

The difference between canned tuna and tuna steak is like the difference between canned Spam and a real beef steak. They're completely different. Tuna steak is a glorious thing.

Orange roughy is delicious, but please don't buy it. They're overfished and will be extinct soon if we don't knock it off.

Mahi Mahi is a good white fish that doesn't smell fishy at all. I also like grouper, swordfish, halibut and flounder which are also white fish and shouldn't smell. Salmon and canned tuna, not tuna steak, sometimes can have an odor. So can shrimp and lobster. If you visit a restaurant or purchase fish and it smells too fishy I'd send it back or request something else, probably not a good sign.

I just LOVE fish! From canned, to boiled, to fried, cooked in special dishes-- you name it. I don't really care for sushi, though. My favorite types of fish are Milkfish, Tuna, Wahoo/Ono, and Mahi Mahi.

I adore seafood! It's actually quite easy to make, healthy and very tasty.

I would suggest for a novice to start with mahi mahi or halibut. They are both quite delicate and light. Just bake with a little bit of butter and fresh lemon or lime for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees and Voilą!

The best fish will be whatever swims wild near where you live...the freshness of fish makes a HUGE difference in taste...'fishy' smell is almost non-existant in fresh fish.
