    Default Cervical cryotherapy

Has anyone had this done? Apparently my biopsy came back bad so I have to get frozen. One site says I will have watery discharge for a month. And that I cant use tampons, have sex or insert anything into my vag for 2-3 WEEKS???? Is that true??? How the hell am I going to work like this??

Yeah that's pretty accurate. A good amount of spotting and discomfort to boot.

No,they just said it wasnt cancer. I still have cervical dysplasia, which is apparently worse then they thought, Its gone too deep to resolve on itself so I have to have liquid nitrogen shot inside me to freeze my cervix and kill the cells.

So I'll be leaking for weeks and cant have sex? How am I supposed to work? I'm going out of town to dance in a few weeks..nude. And if I cant use a tampon, how can I dance when I"m leaking all over the place? Ok...I'm kind of freaking out here...I cant not go, I need the money really badly...

It might not be SUPER bad. Or if you really need the money you might want to consider putting the procedure off until after you go to work.

Yes, it's true. It's possible that you could leak/bleed/spot for 2-3 weeks. You cannot use a tampon for 1 month, or have sex. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about it, other than schedule the cryotherapy after your trip, or re-schedule your trip.

When I was expecting to have to have the same procedure done, I was trying to schedule it around when I would have my period, so that I wouldn't have to take off an additional week because of the no tampon thing.

    I'm really sorry, Cam,
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

That would be a question for your doctor.

I'm sorry, Cam. I wish medical stuff wasn't so barbaric. My (possibly) helpful thought was to use a dark booty cloth or one of those stage rugs, like Canadians, for dances? I'm not sure how much discharge is involved?

Do you think the club would let you dance topless only and you could wear booty shorts? Then you could wear a thin panty-liner for the spotting and bring more to change during your shift.

For your period, can you stack your birth control pills so you can skip your period if it interferes as well? I have safely stacked my regular Yasmin bc(throwing out the placebo and starting on a new pack) for up to 3 packs with no period. I didn't experience any side effects other than breakthrough bleeding before the third pack was completed.

I know that when cells are caught early it is much better than waiting. I would strongly advise against putting the procedure off for more than a few weeks, if at all possible.

They'd let me dance topless, but it seriously interfere with my money, which I desperately need right now.

I already stack my BS so I'm ok as far as thats concerned.

I've had something similar to this ... although I had the "hot" version, where they lasered off the dysplasia. It had the same effects, otherwise I'd mention it to Cam as a potential option.

Basically for 2-3 weeks after the procedure you can experience some really icky spotting. It can be pretty bad at times. There is a possibility that this won't last that long for everyone but if I remember correctly, I was feeling poorly for a while.

Iv'e had the surgery(the freezing) and i was not leaking much at all. Maybe the first couple of days. In two weeks you will be good to go. It does hurt a bit though, so i would take a glass of wine or a pain pill beforehand.

i had this done, and it didnt work for me, i had surgery about a month ago (cone biopsy) to try to get rid of it... i dont think that worked either.

my advice, is make sure they give you the pain meds prior to the treatment, bc that shit HURRRRRRRRTS!!!!! i didn't have any pain killer, well technically i did, but they waited too long after they gave it to me and it wore off. hands down the WORST experience of my life.

I didnt bleed for 6 weeks, i bled for a week and a half, and then bc of work wore tampons for the clear leakageness that happened for another few weeks... then it was all good. but i just wore tampons for work, before and after work i used pads. i didn't get an infection either.

and yes, i had sex during the 6 weeks afterwards too. my dr said just not during the first two weeks, and then after that whatever was comfortable.

i had some cramping after sex though, so take it easy if you choose to have sex before the 6 week mark.

if the discharge smells funny, get thee to a dr, it can signal infection. or if the bleeding is as heavy as a period, thats bad too.

What pain meds were you given? I have a script for Vicoprofen that I have to take fairly regularly, but its a very low dosage. Was it like local anesthetic?

Should I have hubby drive me when I have this done? I was fine to drive myself to and from the biopsy and my Dr told me that if I had to have the cryo done it would hurt less then that did. Now I'm worried....

^ i think you should have him drive you because when you went for the biopsy, you were wishing you had him there to take you. who cares if it doesnt hurt as much? have him come anyway for support. dont feel bad about that. thats what husbands are for!

I'm sitting next to a nurse. She says a month of discharge would be extreme, probably closer to two weeks, but it depends on how extensive it is, and you definitely can't stick anything up there.

It's not that bad, sweetheart. I've been there. Are you having a LEEP procedure, or the other type?
