Default To All My Spanish Speaking People: Who Uses "Vos"? I need your help!

Okay, so I grew up speaking very 'round the way, Puerto Rican Spanglish (like saying velde instead of verde (green).

So my girlfriend from Guatemala sometimes uses vos instead of tu. For some reason, it really throws me. (I usually respond with, "Ok, Chapina!" and she say goes back to tu .

So, I just wanna know: Are there any South American girls who use vos frequently? Also, is it considered sophisticated in some places and not in others? Do you say vos estas or vos esta?

I'm asking because I am making plans to go to Argentina, where they use vos a lot. I just don't wanna sound too hood with the velde and all.

    Help!!

"vos" is used by people from central americans and people from the very south of south America like Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

Don't try to use "vos" because it'll make you a poser and pretentious. Besides "tu" sounds way better anyways!

LOL! Thanks! I wasn't sure if it would be rude/wierd for me to walk around saying "Que tu haces?" in SA, but I guess they'll figure out I'm Boricua soon enough.

    Thanks! Anyone else?
