My indoor kitty doesn't have a collar, but my outdoor cats do. I 've thought of putting a collar on indoor kitty as a safeguard for if she runs outside or something, but haven't done so yet.

Two out of our three cats have collars. It started because they are near identical twins. It made it a lot easier for us to initially tell them apart as well as help our guests tell them apart.
I don't think there is any "unecessary discomfort" involved in the least.
Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.
My cat is an indoor one and doesn't wear a collar. He doesn't have a desire to venture outside even with the front door wide open so I don't see it as being necessary. However, if he becomes a little more adventurous in the future, I'll definitely reconsider.
Mine are indoor only so no. They just claw at it when I try to make them wear one
My cats have never worn collars. They are both microchipped so all their info is stored should they get lost.
They are both cats that come and go as they please although they spend most of their time in doors. I was worried in case they got collars caught on branches etc as they both hunt. I couldn't see the point of anti-snag collars as if I tried to catch them by their collars it would just snap apart anyway.
Yes, although Milosh got his off so its lying on my kitchen table right now. Its the type that detaches pretty easily. He is slowly becoming indoor/outdoor, and is kind of big and clumsy. He needs a clasp collar. Drawback is that its always coming off. Katya has a traditional buckle collar. She runs more backyward territory and is excellent and both removing AND hiding clasp collars.

Indoor and no, if I put it on she does the "omg wtf is this?" and lays down really, really flat on the ground.
Both of mine do. They are inside/outside cats and they have bells on their collars for the safety of the local wild life (and so I can find them by the sounds of their bells, too).

My kitties kept taking them off - somehow - I dunno. But since theyre indoor only I stopped putting them back on. Id be annoyed if I had to wear a tight necklace daily.
I have an indoor kitty and even though she doesn't really try to go outside, she still has a collar. She doesn't seem to mind it. And it looks so pretty on her! In case she ever does leave, I want her to have my info so *hopefully* someone finds her and calls me (unless there's another dickhead who wants to keep her like someone did my other cat!).

my cat lost her shit when I put a collar on her. She was running around, thrashing her head from side to side and then she suddenly stopped moving....stared at me with her ears flat and launched an attack. I snatched that thing off of her and never attempted to make her wear it again. LOL. She was only 5 months old at the time but I was scared to death of her at that moment.

My cat is an indoor cat who goes out very rarely so, no collar.
My cat is a year old now and he's always worn a collar so it doesn't bother him at all. He's an indoor cat and microchipped, but I still worry about him getting out somehow and no-one bothering to take him to a vet. With the collar it has my number on it.
Plus its blue and sparkles so it makes him look cool![]()

my cat's collars dont have my number on it or anything, just a bell. im going to get them microchipped just in case they ever got out because i worry like CRAZY that they will. but my mom said that if they DID get out and had a collar, people would know they were pets and not feral cats.
i dunno. i feel like partly its silly to have them on there.

My Leilani is an indoor cat and wears a collar. It's the cutest little collar with bright printed flowers all over it. Perfect for her.![]()
My cats are all indoors and they had the same reaction when I put a collar on them. They act like they can't walk anymore. Then the other cats see the discomfort on the collared cat and decided to gang up on him for a beating. So.. no collars for my inside babies.
mine are indoor and they dont wear collars. i hate how it makes the fur not full around the neck.

I have an indoor cat but we saw the best K-State collar in the store so he wears it now!
My little WildCat!
Plus his info tag. *grins* I love my little Kitty.
Both of mine wear collars. I've lost too many beloved childhood pets to an unfortunate door opening incident and being unable to run quickly enough to catch them.
Yep Simone wears one even though she's indoor. It gave me an excuse to give her a pretty gold colored heart shaped tag too. I'm dorky like that, it made me happy to give my kitty jewelry.
I also had both my cats RFID tagged as well as collared, even though it's a remote chance for indoor cats, cars and getting lost and such are still very high on the list of dangers they face, especially once they make it out of kittenhood.
Mone are both indoor cats and both wear collars but only because they have rhinestones on and are sooo pretty![]()
