Gotta get rid of right wing politicians. If younger, liberal and open minded people like all of us become the voting majority as I always say, legislation like this will never get off the ground, or ever have a chance to pass.
Not as optimistic about STATEwide legislation passing as you are Tina... Just look what happened in OHIO. Although enforcement in Ohio is spotty from what I understand, the LAW is still on the books... Yes indeed, get rid of the right-wingers typically Republicans from what I gather, although there are some Democrats also. LIBERTARIANS are the only party uniformly for LESS GOVERNMENT.

My point is that politicians are only going to attempt passing legislation that will appeal to their voters and garner support for their position. If there is a dramatic shift in the type of voter we have in this country ie: the huge surge of Obama supporters, these wing nuts will gradually have little support for the nonsensical bills they propose. People like us want politicians to focus on legislation that favors the people and makes the government about helping people, and not focusing on radical special interest projects.
If this country can change courses this political cycle, and thus get millions more people like us involved in the voting process, over time the social conservatives will gradually fade away.

actually there are really three people to 'thank' for this new Kansas law. President Bush, and Supreme Court justices Roberts and Alito. It was arguably the recent US Supreme Court refusal to hear a strip club appeal that cemented the 'secondary effects doctrine' as an indisputible legal principle that made this new bill possible ... because the Supreme Court's action gives Kansas and other states the assurance that they can put forth anti-strip club laws like this one without much worry about having to deal with expensive and lengthy appeals being made.
If GWB gets to make one more Supreme Court appointment upon the departure / death of justice Ginzberg, we can probably expect another 20 years worth of these sort of laws coming from states where the majority of campaign donations (not votes) come from straight-laced residents. Of course, for clubs in 'liberal' states such as NV, NY etc. the passage of every anti-strip club law in other states only improves business !!!
I presume you are talking about the US Supreme Courts refusal to hear the Daytona Beach case? Logic would say that clubs in the USA better be setting real good with their LOCAL governments who may even support the clubs and provide evidence that the stripclubs have no more negative "secondary effects" than convient stores etc. Boggles my mind how the US Supreme Court in essence is allowing negative "secondary effects" studies done often years ago that are IRRELEVANT to the cities/communities/states in question to supercede any LOCAL and CURRENT scientifically sound "secondary effects" studies that prove there is no such negative "secondary effects" at the LOCAL/CURRENT stripclubs where the hypothetical legislation maybe imposed.![]()

Well, I wonder what took them so long. Hopefully, the club owners can lobby this bill to the grave much like they did in Missouri a few years back.
Anyone notice how there were absolutely ZERO comments on that board supporting the bill? It amazes me how much of a disconnect there is between our lawmakers and the general public.
Former SCJ now in rehab.
I would hope so! If this goes through our judicial sysytem there now has been somewhat of a PRECEDENT case been set by the US Supreme Court (Daytona Beach Fl.), that appears to give local communities/states the right to overregulate REGARDLESS of whether or not the clubs can effectively & scientifically refute any negative "secondary effects" studies that likely aren't even current or relevant to the city/state where the regulation is being proposed.![]()

Well, some good news. The Bill has likely been pushed off for the year. Maybe the SC owners already had that lobbying arm in place.
