Default Please find a way to end the war.

I heard about the deaths of 4 more Americans in Iraq on the radio, bringing their total dead to over 4000 men and women. This doesn't include the thousands of Iraqi dead, and the many more devastated lives.

This is so sad, and I hope so much that my American cousins can find an honourable, safe, and wise way to exit from that heartbreaking mess.

If any of us knew how to end it, we would in a heartbeat. The roots of the problem extend so, so far that uprooting the entire tree would be devastating.

Thanks chief, I'll get right on it when I have my one on one weekly slot with Dubya and Congress.

I don't want to start a flame war or anything, because I know a few people here have family in the military. But am wondering, are most people thinking that America has done a GOOD thing by invading Iraq? Do you think that it is any ones decision but the American government that you are still there?

I know in Australia the majority of people thought it was outrageous that our army was sent over there, and I believe one of the reasons our new government was elected was because they promised to pull our troops out of there.

Sorry to thread jack and although I am an old pacifist hippy I am not trying to shove my opinion down anyones throat, I am just curious to know what a few Americans think about other Americans dying over there, are you angry with your government or do you think they are doing the right thing? I admit I am fairly ignorant of the politics behind it all.

I think the majority oppinion is people want our "boys" home now, the war is commonly seen as a failure.

Me personally, I didn't want to go in the first place... Yet, now that we're there and we've totally destabalized things like power and basic security, I think we have a responsibility to fix those things before we do leave.

One of the major problems is that Iraq is being occupied by a hostile nation. If (hopefully when) that hostile nation, i.e., the United States of America, leaves, the country will de facto become less destabilized.

That's how we fuckin' fix it. We do not "fix it" by hanging around, nor do we "fix it" by listening to the people who were wrong, who wanted war, who believed the lies, or who told the lies.

    We "fix it" by leaving.

So we leave them with, no government, a less than fully formed army, a less than fully formed Police system... Unsafe roads... What about all the Iraqi's who have helped and supported us? You think they'll be safe?

Let's just save some time though, agree to disagree.

Very few people in the states now feel that it was a good idea.

However, there is also a feeling that if we leave, the situation over there will get worse. It would likely descend into civil war.

It was a horrible mistake to go in there...but it might be worse to just uproot and leave.

    We're kind of stuck...

that still doesnt mean he had to do it. and i'll take the congress and senate part, but not the people part. the people were tricked into a war that isnt what they thought it was.

And he beleived there were WMD's and that he had to get rid of Saddam... It was a stupid move that lacked planning, but don't put it all on his shoulders.

The american people weren't tricked... They would gungho "let's go get some terrorists" they would have invaded Canada at that point... If they were "tricked" how come I wasn't "tricked"?
