    Default Does fat just move?

I've been doing my 2 times a week yoga and walking more and I've been getting slightly more bendy and found my triceps, which is good. It seems though, that I'm getting muscle definition on the back of my legs and down near the knee, but all of a sudden the front of my legs are so wobbly. Like a mass of fat.

I don't want to lose weight, because I'm already at the ribs showing above the boobs/cheek bones poking out weight (stress). I've always been very pearish, but evenly coated and soft looking-like a Greek statue. Now the front of my legs just look gross. I wouldn't have started all this exercising if I knew I'd be uneven. Help?

Sounds like your front leg muscles need some toning possibly just and exercise suggestion for them:

Buy either a pair of dumbells with a grip strap on them or some of those wrist/ankle weights that are able to velcro around things. After that wrap them around or put your toes up in the air while lying down or sitting. Then point and flex your toes. You can work up from about 2 pounds to 10 pounds depending ont he look you want over several weeks should take 2 to 3 weeks to see a change.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you! I think you're right-the yoga isn't working the front of the leg almost at all.

As a certified yoga and fitness instructor: fat does not move!

It sounds like you need to increase your steady state cardio (working at a level 8 for more than 20 continuous minutes) to metabolize your fat stores.

I LOVE yoga. It is fantastic for flexibility, stress reduction, and hormone control. In terms of body-scupting though, unless you are an ectomorph (someone with low body fat, high metabolism, and a straight "ruler" shape) it does not utilize fat conversion as fuel.

I figured that it didn't but damn-there's a scary difference btw the front and back of my legs! I don't really want to lose more weight, because then the top of me is just scrawny, especially my face. I am SO not a ectomorph.

This happens to me too but in different parts of my body than yours.

If I lose weight it all comes from my torso starting from under the boobs to top of the hip. My hip bones and rib cage look emancipated while I still have a ass and boobs, it's really strange.

The only thing that ever really helped "even it out" for me was to work my torso out really hard getting abbs and doing cardio to lose the only fat I had left on my hips (and unfortunately boobs).

Maybe if you use weights for your upper body it will look more bulky (in a good way) and the loss of more fat won't be as apparent?

It didn't make me look like a hard body by any means, but I didn't look all soft Greek statue looking either.

HHmm, that's a good idea too, Joplin. I don't have a ton of time, but maybe I need to go back to alternating Pilates (which seems to do more for the top of me) with the yoga.

My uneveness is just like that-my face gets all thin, arms and ribs poking out, boobs leave and them BAM-booty and thighs out of nowhere. Only this time my front thighs are all outta wack.

Foam roll your knees! I have the same problem. If you go to the gym, they have these long cylindrical foam roller balls there. Get on your stomach and roll the inside of your legs to "relieve" lactic acid in the surrounding quads and inner thigh muscles. If you do this consistently, it will give you the appearance of straightening out your muscles.

Mine do this because of the lactic acid buildup from working out. I guess it gets stuck under the fat or something.

I get this too! But only at the beginning of a get-in-shape cycle. Lactic acid buildup? I always figured it was loose skin, since I always lose fat when I build muscle, and it sorta comes off unevenly at first and then evens out later.
