    Default Hiking in Oregon

We went hiking on Monday with some friends of ours from L.A., and their friends and their four-year-old daughter. It was one of the most delightful days I've had in years. I love to hike, and on this particular day we were surrounded by waterfalls and cold crisp air, and only an hour and a half from home... I can't believe I really live here!

    Me and K...

K said I looked like a "refugee from Islamabad," so I struck the pose...

    Mossy creek...

Awww, damn! We can't go swimming?!

    One of the waterfalls...

    Behind the same waterfall...

    Behind another waterfall...

    Moss on the trees...

    More !

My favorite picture is the one with the branch in front of that lush background, from the slide show.

Wow! Which trail is that? Up near Mt. Hood? In the Gorge? In the Coast range?

Silver Falls. It's down past Salem, you exit I-5 at Woodburn and take some obscure little roads through the most adorable little towns. I'm definitely going back at the next opportunity; our hike was cut short at three hours because the four-year-old girl was getting tired. We only did about a fourth of the trail and I want to go back and do the rest of it!

    Thanks! I've never been there.

The trails above Multnomah Falls in the gorge, are also spectacular, and there's a bunch of trails in the Coast Range that I've always wanted to try. Y'know, if you're into walking and beautiful scenery 'n' stuff.

I'm in! I love hiking and now that the weather is getting pretty I expect I'll spend most of the summer in the woods. I'm always happiest in a forest!

And yes, y'all, I am deliriously happy these days! I still can't believe I really live here!

We can and we will! We only saw two or three falls on our hike, but the whole trail takes you past ten waterfalls. If you're up for doing the whole thing, we can pack a lunch and make a day of it!

Heh. I have the low pain tolerance, the high anaesthesia tolerance, and the infamous temper that all go with red hair... so I'm gonna have to agree with you. I'm a natural redhead where it counts. Thanks!

It's not a strenuous hike, we should be fine! We'll have a big breakfast, bring a lunch and plenty of water with us on the hike, and then put up our muddy feet in a pub somewhere over good food and a tasty beverage!

That's just gorgeous! And you guys look so happy. Is there anything you DON'T like about Oregon?

p.s. Dasani water has sodium in it, consequently making you thirsty again. It's a ploy!

I know! I didn't buy the Dasani, LOL. K's friend brought it and I figured it was better than nothing. I'm trying to think of something I don't like about Oregon... um... I'm not getting scheduled often enough at my favorite club. That's pretty much the only cloud in my figurative sky.
