    Default Trying Straight Tomorrow Night!

I'm newly friends with a couple in which the wife own a salon. She kept insisting my guy and I come over for dinner and she could play with my hair and do some threading of my eyebrows.

Last night was the night, and my hair is straight! It feels really odd to me still. She and another stylist each used a straightening iron. They looked like inexpensive ones but I had to trust in my friend. They went over my hair several, several times with them. My hair is very soft and she also gave me a quick trim when she was done.

I am now itching to get my own straightener... lots of you suggested GHD for a brand. I'm bidding on an MK4 on eBay whose auction ends at about 9pm tonight. I'd like to pay around $100 and not much more than that if possible. Sephora at the mall also apparently carries them but they are closer to $200 there.

I want to try my hair straight tomorrow night and see what happens!!!

I'm with the pro-curly camp lol but I'd still love to see how you make out! Imgine how long your curly hair will be straight.

Glamazon, some reviews of Chi say they fall apart or stop working in under a year sometimes..

P.S. I suppose I will have to get some pics of it straight, eh?

This is my 3rd CHI in 5 or 6 years, with the 2 previous lasting about 3 years each. The first broke down, with the plates becoming loose first, then the spring giving out. The second one, I've been having problems with the cord and with it staying on for sometime now, but otherwise it's in working order--more of an inconvenience than anything. I'm keeping it as a back-up.

I've heard that the CHI iron has a lifetime guarantee?? I'm too lazy to look into it and/or take advantage of it, if there is any.

Thanks for the info. Honestly, if I'm paying $100+ for something like this, it shouldn't break or be inconvenient for at LEAST 3 years if I'm reasonably careful with it. I think I'm going to give the GHD a shot as many did recommended it.

I have one by Jibere. It cost my $70 and it works great on my hair! I'm half black and have curly long hair but I never wear it curly. I blowdry it then flatiron it and the flatiron has lasted for two and a half years so far. Got it at sally's.

I found that when I worked with a lot of dancers who had really straight hair, that I did better with tumbling curls. When I worked with girls who were curling their hair and all, I did better with straight.

I agree, though, that this thread is useless without pics!!

My chi has lasted 4 years and still works like new. I paid 100 bucks for it, thats 25 dollars a year so far, what is that like 14 or 15 cents per day? On another note you must have alot of hair!!! It took 2 girls to do it? Im jealous I can do my little thin hair in like a min.

I have a CHI and curly thick hair. It straightens so well and smoothly with my CHI that I've had for about 4 years. I'm very for them I find it to be one of my best investments ever.
