    Default Choose a Cruise?

My fiance and I are getting married in June of 2009 and we have been talking about doing a cruise for our honeymoon. Long story short, it is going to fall on me to get most of the details together.

Does anyone have suggestions on where to cruise to or cruise lines? We would like at least a one week cruise, up to *possibly* two weeks, depending on price. I'd like to have an idea of what I want and don't want once I do talk to a trvel agent.

    Any thoughts?

(Edit.. I always seem to edit my posts.. lol) We live in Connecticut, if that makes any difference.

    I've done like 15 cruises.

    What's your price range?

I really believe the more you pay, the better the exerpience. They all have okay food (some, like Crystal, are off the wall good!), but I think you are paying for accomodations and service.

If I were doing budget, I'd avoid Carnival. I've cruised on them like 5-6 times and I just hate them. Royal Caribbean is only a tiny step up. Princess is okay, Celebrity is my favorite of the mass market lines. If you want to splurge, Crystal rocks. I am doing my third cruise with them this May.

Itenerary....that's all you. You might like sea days, or want as many ports as possible. My advice is to pick diverse ports. The caribbean cruises are okay, but it seems like all the ports look alike. Cruises are great in Europe because the food and accomodations are so expensive, but they are included on the ship. I think cruising is a great way to see expensive places.

I found this to be a very good guide for picking the quality of a ship.

I'd go to Europe for a Honeymoon unless you are really looking for a beach type vacation. If that is te case the Caribbean would be better.

I like Carnival just fine but Emily is correct that Royal and the others are better if price is not a problem. Carnival does offer the best price though. If you go with them you will want to pick one of their newer ships. I forget the class they are refered to but one of them is the Conquest & I believe they have a brand spanking new ship that travels a 14 day Euro trip

Also for a Honeymoon trip I'd go for either a balcony room or suite for sure !!!

Cruising in general simply rocks so I'm sure you will have a fab time.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding and all the best to you and your man.

We already planned on a balcony room, not so sure on the quite considering the price differences I've seen. We do plan to spend SOME time in the room, but not THAT much! LOL...

As for price range, I'd say $2-3k or so total for both of us should do it.

Some sea days with some part days would be nice.. mix it up a little. And we definately don't want something that real family oriented.. IE lots of kids running around on their own, annoying the other adults because Mom and Dad assume that the kids can't do much, so why be responsible for them?

    BTW Thanks for the link!

If you want to avoid kids you have to either pick a more expensive one or go while school is in session. Also choose late dining.

Kids annoy me too but they have all these day camps for them so that helps.

Have fun picking a cruise. I love cruises so much. And I'm in favor of the balcony. There is nothing like having room service deliver breakfast and eating it with an ocean view. And its quiet and shady. I also like them because it gives the feeling of infinite space when you are probably going to feel cramped. Those rooms are tiny!
