    Angry Eye twitches

For the past week and a half my left eye has been twitching. Every five or ten minutes it feels like a month has gotten stuck under my lower lid. It's painless, but so irritating I can't sleep, not that It was easy to sleep before. I've been pretty stressed out lately. I want to see my doctor but he'll probably just put me on anti-depressants. I don't feel depressed, I feel frazzled and paniced. Does anyone know any natural cures? Or something to help me relax, besides a vodka and cranberry?

Anything you can do to relax may help. I used to have it happen and didn't have success with much. Working out to exhaustion was mildly succesful. Getting bombed worked better, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

You twitch because of the stress. Have you tried yoga and meditation? I also like Sleepy Time herbal tea at bedtime. Very soothing and calming.

Could also be caused by being low on B-vitamins (drinking alcohol regularly and can deplete your B-vitamins), or being hypothyroid.

Also eat bananas. I get the same thing and they help. Potassium can cause this as the eyes are made up of several muscles, just like if you get arm or leg spasms.
    I could also be b-vitamins.

Eat some fruits and veggies...then take a hot bath with cucumbers over your eyes.

Drink some chamomile tea, and just sink into bed. You can also take melatonin and magnesium/calcium drinks (they work excellent for replenishing the body and helping relax you).

Stress is a huge cause of twitches because stress depletes the body of calcium, magnesium, potassium and vitamin B (along with everything else).

Taking a multi-vitamin and making sure that you learn how to unwind each day is great (I love Yoga and Pilates in combo with the above-mentioned teas, etc).

I took some sleepy-time tea and a sleeping pill. I got in over 8 hours for the first time in 2 weeks and so far, it hasn't twitched
    Thanks so much!

I get this like clockwork every time I am chronically sleep-deprived for over a month.

I've never gotten it when not sleep-depped. Although it does usually take a little while of getting proper sleep to cure it. The worst time, it took a couple months of sleeping properly before it went away completely. I'm hoping I'll never exhaust myself so thoroughly again. :-)

I suspect that chronic sleep deprivation causes minor nerve damage of a "wear and tear" nature, and I know from research that sleeping 8-9 hours repairs everything... nerves included. B vitamins also help to repair the basic wear and tear on the nervous system, though one can overdose.

ew I hate that! It happened to me for like a month straight once. It was pretty horrible. I worked at a hotel and the guests kept thinking i was winking at them.
