Dumb question, and the only part of it that is dumb, is how I reacted to the whole thing..
I've frequented a strip club in my hometown for many years now, we aren't the "buy dances"type of guys, we like going, chatting for a bit, seeing the sights and leaving.. probably what 60% of the clientele is I'd imagine(I could be way off).
I was on vacation, and felt like celebrating with a lapdance, as I've never had one. I never had a friend that had one, and I never really asked anyone how it worked before, so I asked the lady at the desk when I came in.
She said it was $25, tipping was not required, and that it is for 6 minutes, and there is to be no hands on contact with the girls. I knew the hands on part, and I also knew it was 6 minutes. I was surprised to hear tipping was not required, because if you sit at certain areas of the club, IT IS required.
So onwards. A stripper came on that had something "about" her, that I liked, so she chatted us up, I bought a dance, and we went to the back. She put on her show, I made sure to make small talk only, and just tried to enjoy it.
When it was over, I was like "uh..so now what? Is there a tip normally here?
and she's like "yeah you have to tip me, or ...yeah.." so I handed her a $5 thinking since I normally give 1s it'd be OK. She got really offended and I saw her complaining about me to her friends and one of the bouncers. No one threw me out, or gave me shit, but all her friends were large muscled men and I didn't want to be on the shit list.
What IS the proper tip for a lap dance?
I have no idea what I was supposed to do, and I feel awful that I cheated the girl out of a fair tip, if a huge was is expected.
Thanks in advance.
