    Default Snitches got Stitches....

Someone wrote this little phrase in one of the threads in the past couple of days. I was really shocked when I read that statement so I was wondering how the general population on SW feels about this.... For example would you tell if you saw someone at work doing drugs or doing extras? Would you call the police if you saw your neighbor beating up his wife? What if you saw a crime going down while you were just passing through somewhere? What circumstances would make you a snitch?
Personally I think the word "snitch" is pretty destructive. I've seen people with t-shirts with the logo "snitches get stiches" I think it tears apart the world we live in when we don't care enough to stop crimes or scare each other into keeping quiet.

if someone is hurting another person, I'll step in. I'm not gonna go tell on someone hurting themselves tho, if they're an adult, it's not in my control.

but if a parent is hurting their child, or a family has abuse problems I'm gonna call the cops. If I see someone stealing, i'mma say something. If I see a kid not in a carseat, I'mma call DCS. Things like that, I'll be a "snitch" and be damn proud too.

I think a "snitch" doesnt really refer to somebody who reports a crime.... it's more somebody who reports a crime for their own gain, to get somebody in trouble, etc. If you see a person getting attacked an you call 911 that does not make you a snitch. If you see a co worker doing something wrong that really dosn't affect you and you run and "tell" on them, that's snitching.

the car seat thing is lame

I didn't ride in car seats. Especially now that they make people turn the car seat backwards. Stupid.

That's the kind of thing where somebody needs to mind their own business IMO.

I would never call the cops on somebody committing a victim less "Crime" like hooking or smoking weed, etc.

If you're not in the game, you can't really snitch.

If i see a girl doing extras at the club, I will tell a bouncer maybe he should take a walk past a certain couch.

If I see a girl doin drugs I will tell the housemom. Why? Cause I dont want that shit around me. You wanna do drugs, do it on your own time, not at work. Same with extras. Do it on your own time.

Animal abuse or neglict, child abuse or domestic fights I will report.

    ^ Yeah really.

They make you turn the carseat backwards because an air bag can decapitate a child. yeah...not pretty.

I didn't have to use a car seat when I was a child...and ya know, one day the passanger's side door flew open and I fell out. Luckily we were just driving through the neighborhood and I only got scrapes and a broken arm.

    you were really lucky Kaylinn.

and if your windshield shatters, or something flies through your windshield, your baby is a lot better protected by being backwards.

The car seat has to be in the second row(if the car has one) AND turned backwards AFAIk. I see minivans around town with rear facing car seats in the second row.

I often wonder if this is why so many kids get left in cars, the car seat hides the kid from the parent driving, so he/she might forget about them. Probably not likely, but I'd bet it has happened.

My kid will be facing forward so she can fall in love with driving just like I did as a little one. Air disabled of course, just like how my driver side one is. In my accident in may, if I had not been sitting so far back and hit my airbag, I would have gotten hurt more than I did(which was none).

I appreciate your welfare for my yet-to-be-borns, however.

Well Shot if you found out more information about the subject, correct information perhaps you would understand it more instead of saying what you feel.

I hope your wife has more brains than you do then. Dude for fucks sake when the kids is 6 months old it can learn to love the drive. And if you think kids being outta sight means you might forget them in the car then you should probably be sterilised straight away. It's illegal (here in Australia) to not be using a correct car seat because it saves babies lives. Why would you want to put your kids life in danger? I can only hope you are talking through your arse and when you actually have the wellbeing of a little person in your hands you will do everything you can to keep them safe. If not I just think you are Stupid and do not deserve to have care for a child.

As for the OP, I agree with VegasPrincesses definition of a snitch, and based on that I dont like snitching. Helping victims in the community is different.

Which information would that be? I have seen the numbers on airbag incidents involving kids, I've never been a fan of them. I disable the driver's side bag on all my vehicles if I can.

I've seen stuff on rear facing versus forward facing as well. rear facing is indeed safer in SOME accidents(and if the child is not too big). My problem with it is not that it is safer or less safe. It's just not the kind of thing I would snitch on somebody for.

I came across this issue when buying a gift for my god son. I ended up buying him a Recaro child seat. It's FF. But Recaro is a brand i trust over probably all others when it comes to seats in vehicles. having dealt with their products in race cars for quite a few years now.

One problem in the US is that most of hte data for child position involves head on collisions. In Europe, they do side collision testing as well, and the recaro seats have won handedly.

So, it was a little bit more than emotion.

I'd take care of my own, I'm not calling the BCS on somebody else because they might not be as cautious with their own kids though. I have no idea of what situation they are in.

Sh0t - I dont know, I think it was the flippant "So she learns to love driving like her daddy" that got up my nose.

Jester, I have no idea why you would want to face it forwards??? but here it is illegal to use a car seat incorrectly.

I must admit I haven't researched it all the the "nth" degree, but when it comes to my kids safety I'll trust the experts, rather than considering myself to be an expert. Like honestly, I don't care if you DESIGN cars for a living, how do you know more about it than the people who are testing these things and creating safety standards?

What does a persons circumstances have to do with their ability to use a car seat correctly? I wouldn't call the cops about it myself personally, but thats mainly because I wouldn't notice it unless I was close enough to see inside their car, in which case I would just tell them what I thought myself.

I wasn't being flippant. My fondest childhood memories were sitting in the car next to my mommy.

As far as experts go, there are many experts. Who do you listen to? The gov crash bureaucrats? People who deal with motorsports? European authorities that have different criteria?

It's not so cut and dry, IMO.

I agree with shot, it's ridiculous these days with all the crap they expect us to do as parents.
I wasnt in a rear facin car seat as a kid and I turned out fine...I disable my airbags too, since you never know if you truly HAVE airbags anyway until they deploy
    I spank my kids too
and I believe snitches wind up in ditches

Well I don't have kids so I don't really have anything to say about the car seat thing. I guess my question is: What's a snitch? Are you going to call me a snitch because I rat out the dancer doing blow in the bathroom where I work? What about the dancer doing blow jobs in the sweet heart room? I don't feel like working in a whore house/crack house so I'm going to be a rat. If you want to sell drugs next door to me best believe I'm ratting you out to the cops. I had a friend who was doing lines of blow in a hotel room with her 5 year old sitting on the bed. Guess what I did.. I called the cops on her. OH WELL. If I see you hitting your kid or your girlfriend.. I bet you know what I will do! This is my world and I don't want to live in it with a bunch of thieves, murders and drug dealers. If everyone has an attitude like if it doesn't effect me then why do I care.. it effects someone else that 's the problem. It could be your Mother, Father boyfriend or kid.

I think any safety measure the government takes to look after kids is great. I think it's a shame they don't do more to protect kids from dumbass parents (not you guys, the ones that are really bad).

Blade that old "when I was a kid it didnt kill me" theory is quite retarded. How many of your peers DID it kill would be more relevant, or at least comparing.

I have smacked my kids too. But if they wanted to make that illegal to stop that one kid from getting the shit beaten out of them, then I would be ok with that.

Sh0t I dont care what ppl in motor sports or europe say about child seats, I just read the info that is statistically relevant to australia and go with that.

Jester - you can get a little mirror to stick on your rear window so you can keep an eye on bubbs.

It's not just the air bags guys, it's issues like whiplash and things, little babies have no neck muscles. All this stuff is UNLIKELY to effect you,but it only takes one accident to ruin your life. I just dont understand why people care about a bit of extra effort when their kids wellbeing is at issue.

^^^agreed. I stole a candybar once when I was little. When my mom found out she made me go back in apologize and give candybar and money to the place. When my dad found out, I got a few well placed smacks to the head, and then a harsh whipping with the belt... Ya know which one I remember more, the pain... I never stole again.
