Default Good lord... Dune is my favorite weird movie.

This flick is jacked the fuck up! I dug the book when i was a kid, even though i think i understood like 5% of the ideas Frank Herbert was juicing me with.

Is it possible to like a weirder movie? I'm watching it now, and it's weird as hell.

Anyone else have any whacked out movies they can't resist.

The 1984 movie version of Dune with Kyle MacLachlan was just weird. You're right. But the fight at the end with Sting did kick butt.

Speaking of Kyle MacLachlan and weirdness, you should check out Blue Velvet which has Dennis Hopper in it also. One of the weirdest but coolest movies ever. One of my favorites.

Ever see the original Japanese version of The Grudge? Not the stupid American remakes with Sarah Michelle Gellar, but the original from 2003. That's my current favorite Japanese horror although I admit I haven't seen too many.

I just saw the Grindhouse double feature. That was wild. Zombies are always a crowd pleaser. Stripper with a machine gun for a leg prosthesis...cool.

Yea that one was pretty scary. Scarier than the American Grudge version. Oldboy is on my netlflix and I hear its pretty messed up in a good way.

TM, if you like Oldboy (and why wouldn't ya?) you should check out the other two movies that are directed by the same director in a loose thematic trilogy about vengeance. If my memory isn't totally shot, I think they are called Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.

    Especially the latter one.

Madcap - it's David Lynch! What did ya expect? I mean, I assume you've seen other David Lynch movies. I'd go so far as to say Dune is probably his most linear, conventional movie of all.

Funny that you bring this up - I've been having the urge to rewatch Twin Peaks lately.

For more David Lynch, try Wild Palms, mini-series. I love the show... then again I still like the Dune movie, even though some of the symbols are screwed, and the age is way off...

Odd I have Oldboy but never watched... then again I'm still waiting to watch Lady Snow Blood, and I've had that for about 2 years now...

Not weird, but awesome is the series of movies called Battles Without Honor and Humanity.

Nope. The Straight Story. The Elephant Man is fairly linear as well (and also amazing).

Opinions on which cut of Dune is the best? I was considering nexflixing it but wasn't sure which version to look for.

You know, you're right - I honestly wasn't thinking of those two, especially Elephant Man. *sniff*

Not too many people have even heard of TSS, but I just saw it about a week ago. And TEM is one of my all time favorite movies. It made me cry, which is pretty rare.

Did you know The Straight Story is based on a true one? Truth-stranger-than-fiction & all that. Not my favorite Lynch, but I did like.

And OH my gods yes on Elephant Man. I'm not a tearjerker movie person at all, but that totally gets me.

Freeway!!! Duh! It's been at least 5 years since I've seen it but it's awesome!

Can I just say that at like, 5 years old, I had the hugest crush on metal bikini clad Sting?

Yep. And the actor who played the lead had been diagnosed with terminal cancer at the time, which makes the whole end of life thing even more poignant for me at least.

I have this on VHS. I analogized the 'spice' to crack and it turned me off. Always liked science fiction. But this one is very hard to follow and then it goes on for so long. Critics deemed it a bomb. Now my tape is broken and I likely won't patch it.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
