    Default Acne: Differin 0.1% Update

Well I just wanted to let anyone interested in Differin know my progress. It's been 6 weeks now. I've seen an improvement since when I first started. I'm not getting the horrible cysts that wouldn't come to a head anymore. I'm still getting little ones though. Maybe 2-3 at any given time but SO much more manageable than before. Initially I suffered from dryness and peeling from the gel but that went away in about 2 weeks. So now the doctor has me trying the 0.3% to see if my skin is going to be too sensitive for it. He also wants me to use BenzaClin during the day in addition to my Differin. He also prescribed me something oral (which I felt was more of an over kill) Oracea. He said that this is an anti-inflammatory and would help the process of the topicals and I could stop taking the oral meds in a few months. I'm not sure if I can even take the Oracea though because when I called Walmart they said it was going to cost me $200 for 30 pills! So I checked the Canadian pharmacy I order everything from and it was $144 for 30 pills which I think is still too much money. I will let you know my progress in another 6 weeks!

What about a generic? Oracea is doxycycline, but just a brand, so just the same regardless.

The pharmacist said there is a difference... oracea is a loser dose and something about the timing release.

I'm generic minocycline, and it works great. I had the same kind of cysts. It's $20 a month. Remember, a lot of doctors get bonuses for prescribing name brand drugs. That's why they encourage them and not the generics.
