Car seats for children why or why not?
Why like them?
Why hate them?
Do we have more cars on the roads now days than when we were little?
Are cars safer?
If anyone has questions about car seats you can visit...

I just wish they didn't have to face BACKWARDS in the BACK SEAT. It's going to be so hard getting used to being so separated from my little nursling!![]()

Car seats are necessary. They keep kids well protected (for the most part) in times of a crash, etc.
I hate car seats because they are a PITA to get a 15 month old, who'd rather be running around, in.
There's definitely more cars on the road these days. Besides, the cars (from when I was young) were built like tanks...and if you got into a head-on collision, most people could walk away and there'd be just a few scratches...maybe a missing bumper. These days, cars are made out of fiberglass/plastic and if you get into an accident, your lucky to walk away...and usually are filing a full loss claim on the car.
In some ways cars are safer...in others, they are not.

Pft... cars are so not safer. They're all padded and shit but they're made of fibreglass! Wtf happened to the days of steel and vroom and if you hit a brick house, you win?

yesyes yes to car seats. Done the right way, strapped in tight enough.
if someone is so worried about the baby facing backwards, walk, ride the bus, or have someone else drive, so you can sit with them if possible. Or just stay home, or deal with it.
it's one of those things most really don'rt like, but we do it anyways, b/c it'd be stupid not to.

Have you guys heard though the new recommendation (SP?) on when you're spose to keep kids in carseats!? 4'10"!!!!!!!!!! "Keep them in till they're 4'10"!" ~> New slogan, saw it on the tv. Anyways, I think that's a bit much! If that was the case my friend who's 23 just barely made the cut off (she's 4'10" herself)... Although I think it'd be halariously cute for her to be driving with a booster or something. Anyways, I think that keeping them in till they're that tall is toooooo long. Anyone else? I don't know... I think it should go off age. Cos my daughter at 19 months is 2'8". Anyways, I think carseats are def. a must... You know before carseats, parents were told to put the baby's in a laundry basket and place it on the floor?? Then again, as Lysondra said... steel cars.
I'm all about in-car safety, so car seats are a MUST for me, especially with infants. I might let it slide once if a kid didn't have a car seat, but I'd absolutely hate to be driving with an infant in the car who was being held on someone's lap or something.
And no matter what age....seatbelts!!! In my car, you can buckle up or you can get straight back out![]()

Whew thank God I'm a whopping 5'2" hahahahaha
What I dont like is when my daughter turned 4 the law was age 4 of 40lbs then after she hadnt been in a seat for a year the law changed to 6 and 60 and now its whatever it is... I dunno - shes 9 years old now and shed kill me if I tried to make her sit in a car seat.
For younger children I have no problemo - I actually like them because it makes them stay in their seat otherwise my 3 year old woulda been climbing all over the car.
And not to mention safer in accidents. But thats just a given.

I don't think the drivers are more or less safe these days, but in an emergency I'd rather know that the kids have every chance to survive--those seats give them the best chance.

As soon as my kid is able to, I'm going to by her one of those pocket bikes so she can get started on her racing career early. Or go-kart if she favors 4 wheels.
I still love those recaro racing baby car seats though. They are cute
