I'm sorry hon. I'm glad it was so quick also.

Sorry hon, that's awful.

Oh i'm sorry! Give it a proper burial, that'd be nice, and I think it'd make you feel more at peace. And get another parakett for the one that's alive...they are pretty social animals, so he could use a companion. Maybe buy it from another pet shop...who knows if there's a virus being spread in the ones you got from that particular shop.
Hope it didn't suffer too much too. Poor little birdie, I love parakeets. Rest in peace, poor baby. Keep us posted when you get another one!
I'm so sorry about your budgie. Mine died while I was away at college, so I never really got to say goodbye.
Before you buy another bird--try to find a breeder rather than a pet shop. Pet shops can be disease pits, and many will not remove a sick bird from the population. They also overcrowd the cages and do not always clean them well.
When you contact the breeder, tell them about your bird that died. They may be able to help you so your new bird does not contract the same disease.
You may need to wait for a few weeks to be sure your remaining bird is not carrying the disease, and you might want to replace the cage and any bird toys you had in it. Your breeder will be able to tell you about this. If you can't find a breeder in the Yellow Pages, ask a vet that works with birds to recommend one.
I hope your next parakeet lives a long and happy life.
That sucks! It's so horrible no matter how big or small the animal when one of them leaves us. I agree with Da maybe you should have a burial? Are you going to get another companion for your other bird?
I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I hope you feel better soon, and like other have posted get him a new friend, but be cautious on how and where you get him.

awww lexi, i'm so sorry.
something similar happened to my late sister when she woke up one morning. but yeah, you're right, it's better she didn't suffer.
Love it!
Oh no!I'm sorry

I"m sorry..it IS a big deal. I was PISSED when one of my birds died and people were saying "its only a bird..not like a dog or a cat or anything..just get a new one" like they are fucking interchangeable. Thats your BABY...doesnt matter if she was furred, feathered, scaled or skin...its still your baby.
I'm so sorry honey. Is there a way you can take it to the vet to be necropsied so you know if she had something communicable?
How old was she?
I am DREADING when my one bird goes..he's getting up there for his species in age and I know I dont have much more time left with him.But he is healthy and happy and just as active as ever(if a bit more grumpy in his old age). But he's the first bird I ever had..he's outlived THREE mates at 16 years old and I've had him since he was 8 weeks old.I'll be completely destroyed when he goes.

Thats odd for a keet so young. I'd def advise a necropsy if you can afford it...just to be sure that your other one wont suffer the same fate...esp if you bought them at the same place.
Birds are usually pretty good at hiding symptoms of illness(they have to be as prey animals)so she could have been (and since she was so young likely was)sick fromthe time you got her.
If you cant get a necropsy done..I'd bring the other one into the vet(make sure its a vet that specializes in avian or they wont really know what to look for) and have her fully checked out.
