    Default Achievement.

I have just reached my goal. I have gotten rid of almost everything I ever owned
I have been gradually down sizing for the last few years but for the last 1-2 years Ive really been hit with "throw it out fever"! (Technically I have given it all away, not thrown it out.)
Heres my complete list of everything I now own.

1 not very full filing cabinet
1 mini set of decorative drawers holding a few items of jewelry
    1 bed
    1 full bookshelf
1 chest holding a few small sentimental things
    1 trunk of letters
1 chest of drawers full of clothes
A few decorative boxes filled with hula-hoop parts, candles, incense, colloidal silver equipment etc
    1 small tv
    1 dvd / video player
    1 portable dvd player
    1 portable stereo
A cupboard which holds nowhere near as much clothing as before - there is space inside! - And 47 pairs of shoes. I was also able to fit my spare sheets and towels in there.
A handful, maybe 2 handfuls of ornaments
1 half sized set of shelves full of boxed photos
1 bedside cabinet with some bedside sort of things kept inside in an orderly manner
1 box of photos under the bed
    1 stripper pole
    2 pictures
1 small work case & make up bag
    8 hula-hoops
    1 waste paper basket
    A (small!) cupboard of vitamins
    Sponge bag
    2 laptops
    1 bicycle
    1 juicer
    1 glass

I gave all of my music to my son but I can access it anytime
I will be ridding myself of more stuff I expect. Its been a mildly interesting journey but Im loving it, some one congratulate me!

That IS impressive. I'm still carting around every college textbook I ever had. (What? I might need to look something up!)

Rose, I never would have been able to get rid of all my books (a few hundred) except that I can look up most of what I need online now. ive still got 200 books though for the stuff I cant find

RoseWhite, not only are you 100% correct, but you will inevitably end up needing the books you rid yourself of and keeping the ones you won't be.

    Observe:
Do you know why it's sad? Because MsQ, you did, and RoseWhite, you were thinking of, getting rid of it.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

    Lol, that was cool!
With my books I gave some to charity shops but a lot of them I gave to specific people. One friend got almost my entire health & healing collection because i know shell use and other went to people I either knew or knew of who were interested in certain topics. Its easier to part with things when you know theyre going to good homes

A ticket around the world hopefully. Other than that, nothing really, I dont want or need anything, I like not having stuff and want to try and keep things simple and clutter free from now on

This will be my new fact for the day.
Theyre very easy to make, just poly pipe, hose connectors and electrical tape.

Fab, I finally worked out how to multi-quote. That was a good guess, i dont know why I didnt try sooner!

That's awesome! Really, truly- I love the idea of being able to list all you own!

One of my goals for the next 8-10 months is to do the same, to a much smaller degree; I'd like to liquidate about 30-40% of my belongings. I'm a crazy hoarder, it's gotta stop, lol.

    Congratulations, Ms. Qwerty!

So this is a philosophical thing, getting rid of material possessions? I've heard some old white guy talk about that kind of thing. What was his name...? Oh, right! Jesus of Nazareth!

    Agreed!
    IMHO, if one must part with, it is the best way to go about it, giving them a new life, a fresh start in a loving home in which owner and book will both mutually nurture each other. One's conscience is benefited by passing along said items, particularly those which can enrich others- Paying it forward;

I get teary eyed just thinking of it; LoL.

This may be an exceedingly dumb question (and please forgive my curiosity) but why get rid of everything?

With those luxuries most of us could do the same; but who would want to?

    How inspiring.

I'm moving tomorrow into a new house, by myself, and I feel like I'm getting a new start. I like "stuff" and "things", like anyone else, but I end up getting rid of most of the things I bought impulsively because I felt I couldn't live without them. "Things", to me, can be toxic, cluttery, and get in the way of the real, simple appreciation of the art of being alive.

I'm leaving the tv, dvd player and all the game systems with my husband when I move out, and most of the furniture. I am of course taking a computer so I can nerdily peruse SW all day long still, and all my mountains of books, old and new. And cats.

I'm digging your actions, and this post, MsQ. Very inspiring!

There are a few reasons though, but Im not sure that I can make a short answer of it yet, lol.

I dont eat out all the time but I am away from home a lot. I dont cook anyway as Im terrible at it so Ive always lived with people who cook for me. Im on my way to living on a raw food diet though and then that solves that problem

^^^Ha, crazy! Thats the thing though - you can build it all up again if you want to (-:
I was hugely inspired when my best friend from England emigrated. I stayed with her in England a couple of years ago and she had a lovely 2 storey house full of stuff. She moved to NZ with just one suitcase!
I think I might eventually get down to one or two suitcases full of stuff. Im really tempted to off some more stuff right now!

Very possibly. I don't 'cook' but I make something for myself (unprocessed, healthy stuff) for myself every night.

This is really inspiring though Ms Q! Do you just feel free, like you can do/go anywhere with nothing holding you down?

I also feel like my time is my own from now on. Aside from daily tasks and the last one or two things I have to do which are very simple really, I have absolutly nothing anywhere that needs to be done. Its a good feeling!!!

Way to go MsQ. This idea is appealling to me. I've done variations of it a couple of times in my life. I think I'm due for another cleanse/purge.

^^^What are you defining as "quality"? If you mean sparkles, I can give you two options - you can buy the sparkle tape and or any other colours you want & I can make you the hoop. Or, I can use contact which looks ok though Im not a huge fan of it. The designs are limited with the contact.
If you want a hoop like the ones you bought elsewhere I can do those too, but I just gave my last roll of that type of hosing to Lifeline because I dont like it very much so youd have to buy it (Its under $10 for about 10 metres.) (-:
