Default do a lot of you travel?

I know that there used to be tons of girls in the industry that traveled all over to dance. In fact, that is how my career started as a feature! I have been a little out of the loop as far as how it works with housedancers since I haven't been one for almost 8 years. However, I just wondered how many of you out there like to travel or just enjoy being in a different environment?

I chose the last 3. I like to travel, but I dont like it to...there are pros and cons. But I have grown to hate dancing here in extras-land. I love dancing out of town though where the clubs are filled with DANCERS and not low budget hookers who dont want to admit they are hookers. I also love my main out of town club..the dancers and staff who have been there a long time really do feel like family and no matter how long I stay away,I am always welcomed back with open arms.

Traveling, whether to dance or to film, also perks up my perspective and gives me hope. The change in atmosphere re-charges both my mind and my work ethic.

I picked all the options because they are all reasons I travel. I go all over and travel a lot. I'm often away more than home, and sometimes I don't even have a "home" just live on the road.

I travel because I have to lol. I feature which requires me traveling weekly. I pretty much live on the road and have done so for over two years now. Though i've decided to move to Winnipeg which cuts down a lot of travel because there is a ton of work in this city since its agency run.

Im about to start travelling, as there is limited choice in my city for dancing, and the money isnt that great.
Its costing me $300 travel costs, plus $200 a week accomodation to go over East for 6 weeks, which I can make back in a shift (well I USED to make that sort of money)
Theres no sense crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying till you run out of cake

I travel because it works well with my personality to 'binge work', I like to be in new environments, and because there is more money outside of Van.

Oh..and traveling makes me work more. Its easy to say "oh..I'll just work tomorrow..I'm tired" when I'm home, but when I'm traveling,I cant afford to be that lazy. I have to cover travel expenses and ideally make more in profit after all expenses are paid then I'd make at home to justify being away from home, hubby and my babies. So when I'm out of town, I WORK...sick,tired,broken toe..doesnt matter..I'm there every night I can be.

the whole licensing thing a lot of states have now really cramps my traveling style, stupid vegas, they started the whole thing didn't they? I have also found I have to be less than honest with many clubs these days, as they don't seem to be in a hurry to hire someone just in town for the weekend or whatever. Whatever happened to the clubs that aggressivly booked dancers from out of town to keep fresh faces in the club at all times? Do these clubs still exist? And if so, where the hell are they lol

I travel because of my other job. I work at Renaissance Faires around the country on weekends, and during the week, I dance. Depending on what city I'm in/near, it's debatable which one is my "real job" and which one is my "side money," but mostly I'm in it because I'm spoiled and refuse to do anything that isn't entertaining to me. Otherwise, I'd probably just travel for stripping, work on weekends at clubs, and make actual money, rather than just keep my head mostly above water.

So I guess... my whole life is a "different environment."

Upper midwest. Also Alaska, Guam, Puerto Rico. Mostly in remote areas is where you find clubs that book out of town girls regularly.

I haven't taken a working trip since I moved to Portland because I like it here, but when I lived in L.A. and travelled a lot, it was for all of the reasons you listed.
