I'm very very curious about this too.
Before I came here I thought I figured it all out ...
Do go and make a lot of money with some of the big companies; Vivid, Wicked, Whatever. They are doing nice mainstream porn. It should be pretty easy work and you get a lot of exposure![]()
Then go make even more money dancing/stripping !!
Then switch between porn and stripping.
Surfing around here I don't think it is working out that easy.
I don't know why ??
It somewhat takes the fun out of doing porn
I sound so naive and I know it![]()

Ok, I'm gonna be totally honest. I make more than double the money dancing that I do making porn (magazines, DVD's, and internet content). Porn doesn't really pay *that* well at the moment, not even the really big companies give you a bunch unless you go under contract with them, and that's not all that easy to get. I've had checks bounce from companies that are supposed to be 'the biggest and the best'. If you're doing it just for the money, it's a personal decision as to the dollar amount that makes it worth it. If you're doing it just to have something to do other than dancing, then that's a whole different thing.
Porn is hard effing work. Especially porn in LA.
^^ yep What Ginger said. Dont count on porn to pay all your bills.
A very well known and well respected porn director/producer once told me "the last person you will EVER want to know about you doing porn will find out, count on it."

I too know a woman who was a fairly prominent adult star a decade ago. The money wasn't that great then and my understanding is it is even worse now, plus a lot more is expected of the girls performance-wise. One scene takes essentially the whole day to shoot and the girl is paid by the scene. The real money comes from featuring or escorting ( if those are things you are even interested in pursuing) and those areas have also been hit hard by the slump in adult entertainment. Much to her chagrin, her former career choices never seem to go away. Its food for thought.

Yep. I rarely get recognized on the street(thank GOD!) but my ex-brother disowned me after supposedly someone I went to high school with sent him one of my movies. I look NOTHING like I looked in high school..so dont think that by changing your look you will be incognito. My hair is a different color,my body is different being that I graduated from high school 17 years ago, nothing I do is under my real name,I've had plastic surgery since then....
I was still recognized.
It's a risk I chose to take when I started doing this.

How about phone sex Joplin?
I don't mean with me, though that would be fun, but one of those 1-900 numbers. I think there are others on this site doing that.
Well for me..I've always done mainstream modeling. I stayed out of nudes and porn only because I knew my family wouldnt approve. Then one day I realized that we arent that close anyway, they'll never be happy with anything I do and I'd be a lot happier doing what I want to do then living for someone else.

Joplin:
I want to interject here too. I have some writing coming out, and have had a couple of little things published in the past. My family found out. They will probably find out again. It's erotica, and that too can bite you in the butt, I don't care, but if I did, there's no way I could outrun it. So I have to embrace it. People would never say OMG she's a smut writer, or a phone sx operator out on the street, but some have figured it out. I'm not under my real name either.
Anything adult industry related can come back and get you. I've done the mainstream thing for most of my life. I'm tired of it, and I hope to really not go back to it. too boring, confining and frankly frightening. When things go bad in the world of corporate America you are always expendable. When you're in charge of what you're doing, then the one who sours or sweetens it is you.
Cameron and Ginger are both very right. They are smart ladies on this and may other subjects.
