Angry "I WORK for MY money"

I was at work last night, trying to get a guy interested in VIP to go back with me. When the subject of price came up, he was appalled and said "No way. I work for my money!" Like I don't work for mine? Like I just naturally look and act like this and just roll into work to party and people throw money at me?!

Then today there was an episode of the Tyra Banks show about strippers (again) and how female customers react. When the time came for the female customers to tip, one woman made the comment as she was slipping the dollar in the stripper's garter "I'm doing this because they're making me, but I don't want to because I work for my money!" and the entire audience cheered when they heard this! WTF?!

Why do people have this idea that this is not hard work and we don't deserve to be compensated for our services?

If people don't want to pay for entertainment, then they need to stay at home or find something else to do. It really annoys me when I'm at work, dancing and people ask me "What do you do for a living?"

I refuse to watch the Tyra Banks show. I really can't stand her and it takes all I have not to take my tv and smash it when I see her face. Funny though how Tyra would support the comment that we shouldn't tip strippers because we don't work and yet she makes her money off doing talk shows and hosting reality shows. If I'm not really working, then she isn't either.

I had a guy say that to me once. I just grinned and said, "That's great, I work for your money too!" He actually tipped me a five but left the club shortly thereafter without spending anything else. Oh well.

I hate it when people say this. You're kidding me, right? Anything that messes your knees, back, and feet up this badly has to be work.
Strippers seem to be the lowest paid in the entertainment industry. Guys running around a field chasing a football get paid way more, and that looks like "not working" also.
The next time somebody says that to me, I may just bring that up.

Didn't Tyra once throw a fit when someone insinuated that modeling wasn't real work and models didn't work hard?

This from people who are in an establishment availing themselves of a service. ?? They come for the naked girls, not the overpriced liquor. What do they think we're doing there? Volunteering?

    Urgh! I hate those guys!

I asked a guy for a dance on Saturday night after he literally pulled me away from another customer. He then proceeded to pull out his phone and tell me that he had at least five girls he could call right then who would come over and fuck him for free, so why would he pay for a lapdance or anything from a girl for that matter.

    ...!

Why the fuck are you pulling me away from other customers then?!?! Why the fuck are you here?! Do you genuinely think we just rock up in our underwear for free waiting for short dumpy late 30 somethings who are balding and still wear the same jeans they bought in 1992 and smell like BO and rum to come in and take us home? .. No not even for money, for FREE.

My own sister actually used the 'you don't work for your money but I do' line on me at Thanksgiving dinner last year. I told her to switch with me for one week, I'd work in fast food and she could strip, then she could see whether or not the money 'fell from the sky' (what she basically told me).

She didn't take me up on that offer.

LOL, that's awesome. I once said, "Do you think that I'm talking to you for fun?"

i just laugh when i hear people whining about how "it's not a real job." Jealousy's a bitch, isn't it?

fact is, these people are insecure and can't deal with the fact that we make more in a night than most of them do in a week.

afaic they can go right on hating. i'll keep working smarter, not harder...and laugh all the way to the bank.

I don't even bother with people like that, people who don't want to spend should not be at the club. Period. Tyra needs to worry about her own life instead of judging how people are making money in theirs. Just... fuck em.

Yeah don't work for money....we have to go on crash diets, exercise for at least an hour a day, buy clothing that fits right but doesn't show our flaws, prove over and over we are pleasant company even when we're PMSing, on our periods, sometimes when we're ill, we have to struggle until our bills our paid. Dumb guys dump beer on us and then don't tip. We get insulted, told how we're too fat, too skinny, we get exposed to drugs, pimps, pimp wannabes, extras girls, guys whom are used to extras, strange customer behavior, grabby customers. Oh and then there's the makeup, hair, eyes, boob jobs, whatever else surgery jobs to keep us earning top money. As someone mentioned the hips, knees, ankles, the idea that we might harm ourselves doing pole tricks.....you know minor things like that. Oh of course we have to act like we really like sweatpants guy to get our $20.

No, no one here works for their money at all. not a one of us. Ginger, good for you for telling your sister to trade places. She works fast food? That's a hard job I know it is, but good god I'd say you at least work equally as hard.

If it's not a real job anyway, why is everyone so bitchy we do it?

You can't say getting paid to take your clothes off is disgusting and that making money off being naked isn't a real job in the same breath without being a HIPPO-crite.

most people resent what they see as 'easy money' when they have to struggle. it's disgusting to them precisely because they think stripping is 'easy money'. that's not hypocrisy, just regular old resentment.

resenting trust fund babies wouldn't be hypocrisy either, and there are similar reasons for the resentment, interestingly-- still the same idea that it's unearned and unrestricted (a LOT of people seriously believe strippers don't have bills to pay, ever, and that their money can just be spent on 'fun') when that's not necessarily the case with trust funds.

but then, stripping is rather like acting-- if it's being done correctly, it never looks like work or pretending a persona.

Oh I'll fully admit that my sister has a hard job, I'm the one that got it for her back in high school. (I hired her at my restaurant, blah blah). But I'll be damned if I'm not 100% sure she has no idea what the hell I deal with at work. I'm still waiting on her to trade with me, because my offer is always on the table. Until then I don't wanna hear any bullshit about my job, and my family is very aware of that fact.

I got some random email from someone concerning this post and since you have no problems telling me your views and don't want to hear any response since you don't take emails from anyone not your friends, here is my response email

"If you don't want to pay for it, then please do not come into a strip club. And I can't really take someone seriously who says I am wasting my time when you are surfing Stripperweb which you have no part of the community and contacting members about things you know nothing about. I didn't really read your email, just skimmed through it so anything else you wrote, I'm not commenting on since you are just trying to get a rise out of me. This is pure ignorance at its best. What was the point of contacting me? Are you one of those men who can't get a girl to talk to you and expect us to volunteer our time and now I'm going to change my whole life and just get naked randomly and talk to you because I feel bad that you can't get a decent converstation out of someone?"

    You write this:

"If people don't want to pay for entertainment, then they need to stay at home or find something else to do. It really annoys me when I'm at work, dancing and people ask me "What do you do for a living?""

What you do is NOT work. It is partying for tips at best and quasi-prostitution at worst, and if you haven't noticed, men are exiting as customers in droves, leaving you with the low-quaity men and chumps who still part with large amounts of money in return for NOTHING. I'm sure you like getting money from those men, but enjoy it until they wise up, as StripperWeb is educating a lot of men on why we should never set foot in the clubs.

Your existence is going to take up most of your youth in the sex industry, in places you probably won't enjoy having for memories when you're older. You can power-trip and earn and some people will value you because of your youth and beauty, but I think you're missing a much larger picture. "

Our existence is going to take up most of our youth somewhere, and when it's gone it's gone. So what? I honestly don't see average nonstripper as having a more happy existence than average stripper.

Good. I hope whoever wrote that stays out of the club like they said. They have probably learned the hard way that they cannot have a good time by being cheap, and therefore have to become bitter about it and lash out at dancers who make the money.

To the know-it-all asshole who wrote that; don't worry, none of us are losing out by you not being in the club. In fact, we would really appreciate you never coming back. Business and money will always be there, so your words have no effect on us. You can kindly fuck the hell off.
