Default question re: post-surgery care (rhinoplasty)

i could ask my doctor (and probably will call him tomorrow), but it's midnight now, so i thought i'd ask here, on the forum that never sleeps , first.

i have a splint and tape on the bridge of my nose, and a hunk of gauze taped underneath the nostrils. i was told to take the gauze off on Friday and to leave the splint alone.

so i'm not touching the splint at all...but is it ok to change the gauze? on one hand, he said wait till friday to remove it...on the other hand, i tried to drink onion broth for dinner, and since the gauze hangs over my mouth a bit, it ended up soaking up onion broth, cranberry juice and pureed peaches. it stinks, and is mixing with the formerly-dried blood and is all wet and just...disgusting.

is it ok to remove the gauze early if i replace it right away with a clean, dry, new piece?

I can't remember if I changed anything or not. I have a vague memory of changing something taped beneath my nose, but I could be wrong. To be safe I'd ask your doctor. Wouldn't want to mess anything up.

I think it would be ok to remove it. My splint fell off during the night coz the swelling had gone down and it not longer fit my nose. Just be gentle and don't bump your nose.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
