Default some of my great lengths are coming out!

OMG! I've had five strands (out of hundreds, mind you) come out because they've slipped. I asked my stylist if it was OK to use Biosilk, and she said yes, but I'm not sure They're a kind of fusion, and I know you're not supposed to use oily products with some kind of fusion techniques. I think the oil might be building up on my roots and in the bonds. She said I will definitely lose a few just because no method is perfect, but I'm just checking.

    Argh! What do I do?!

A few will come out, it's natural. The hair they're connected to sheds, and sometimes you lose whole strands.

Biosilk is fine, but DO NOT get it near the roots/bonds. It WILL make them slip. Use it only on the ends. You can have them put back in, but I wouldn't worry too much unless you start losing alot more.

Thanks! That's what I thought. Heat is a no-no too, right?

It's normal. You can use heat, but just not on the actual bonds...

Only condition from the nape of your neck down. don't get conditioner near the roots either. You can use a detangler on the scalp if nesessary, but only one with no cones, I used the Bumble and Bumble Tonic for a detangler.

What shampoo/conditioner are you using? My extensions slipped like crazy with every shampoo I tried until I switched to Bumble & Bumble. that stopped the slippage completly. I used the seaweed shampoo and conditioner

5 strands isn't really that much---didn't you get them done a few weeks ago? They are going to fall out no matter what, but I don't think an oily conditioner is a good idea

I had a similar product and I lost a few. I think over a 5 month period I lost about 10. I was actually suprised...yet I still flipped out whenever I lost one. I'm not sure about the biosilk only because the kind I had required their shampoo and conditioner and detangler. I hope it works out though!

yeah, it's def normal to lose a few. i even lost one on stage once. oopsies. covered it up tho by bending over with a huge smile and picking it up (dark club). anyhow, you're right..no oil products on the bonds. isn't biosilk just a smoother for the hair? if it's not put directly on the bonds you should be fine...

ARGH I am having a lot coming out. Probably 10 in the past two days. I really think it's because of the conditioner and biosilk. The problem is MY hair is so dry and firzzy I need to condition and use Biosilk.

I spent about $2000 on the hair and installation, about $200 on color, and another $600 on more hair because 8 bundles wasn't enough. I'm going to be really pissed if I have to get them taken out. I guess I just need to get a few repairs if this keeps happening.

I would stop the Biosilk immediately. Even if you don't put it near the roots, it can make its way up there. When I had fusion, I only used clarifying shampoo since my hair is a bit oily already. No conditioner on the roots ever.

It is definitely normal to lose a few. Can you use something other than Biosilk? Maybe a smoothing cream, something not oil based?

I had some Great Lengths fall out too, and I FREAKED! They are so expensive, and eventually I had to go back to get another bundle put in..... I used Biosilk too, and my hairdresser told me I could use serums, just near the ends. She even sarcastically said, "It's not like the serium will magically climb up your hair." ... But I think it somehow did... It sucks, I needed lots of serum on the ends too. So maybe ask if there's another product you can use?

I swear some stylists are so ignorant and I hate when they talk to you like you're an idiot. Duh, its not going to "climb" up your hair. But what about when you flip your hair around, when you throw it up in a bun, when you lay down on the couch?? There's plenty of opportunity for the ends to get near the roots, esp as stripper. I am constantly touching my hair at work!!

ETA: Bumble & Bumble also makes a very popular styling cream if you are going to be trying their products. Their line seems to be highly recommended for extensions.
