Default I'm going to be honest...

about all the grossness that is going on with my body since my BA. If anyone has advice that's great..Don't read on unless you can handle subjects that some people consider crass(although we all have problems in this area occasionallu)
So I've had ridiculous pain, STILL since my sx on Friday. My dr expected this and gave more than normal pain killers b/c surgery was an hour longer do to the intense manipulation that was involved. OK, they look great even for not even a week. I've seen swelling pics that were outta this world. So I'm on percs. I've been trying to ween off of them and on to tylenol extra strength. It seems OK during the day, but I can't AT ALL sleep at night comfortably. I'm still not lying down yet, propped up ALL the time. I try to lie flat and BAM right side starts SCREAMING.
I want to get off these pain meds b/c I can not have a BM by myself. I still have no appetite either. I was recommended dulcolax and took 2 on monday. I had 1 bm about 3 hours later...YAY INTESTINES. But then about 30 minutes later raging diarhhea. Umm not good.
Next day I take just one, and lie 12 hours later a very small amount of stool. Also i vomited today for god knows why. Maybe because I ate rich foods, or maybe b/c I didn't take a phenergen. So I felt nauseas most the day. Also, could it be from not having normal bowel function?
So this morning I wake up in agonizing pain. Intense pain on the right, shooting pains in the left. Almost unable to sit up from my already sitting up position. I decide I HAVE to take a perc (It'd been about 10 hours since the last b/c I was taking ex.s. tylenol) So here I am, with a phenergen up my ass waiting for a half hour so I can take a perc. HOWEVER, by placing the suppository my body was like HEY we need to poop (crass I know). So I have this huge bowel movement (so is the phenergen still around?) and now I sit here. Wondering if the percs are going to make me sick, or if i will at least have pain relief and get some sleep.
I'm not proud about what I've posted, I just pray to god someone has some answers. My dr keeps saying wait it out, but I'm miserable

I have no idea what you can do about it but I hope it gets better soon. Sounds miserable!

Pain meds definitely mess with your intestines....maybe some probiotics. I am sure that your guts aren't to happy right now....also drink the hottest water you can stand. It will help. Keep taking stool softners. Try to drink a 16 oz glass of water with every meal, and maybe a little senna tea throughtout your day. Massage your feet, especially on the accupressure points for the inetstines and stomach, or have someone else. You can download a free accupressure chart here:

    hey
my surgery was only 2 weeks ago, but i know what your going thru and that sucks! sorry you have more than normal amount of pain, just keep taking your pain meds, don't try to ween off of them yet. i swear i didn't poop for the whole first week after mine, and then it took 3 days of taking diff levels of laxatives, and that really messed me up. i had horrible icky poop for a few days and any food killed my stomach.
it will get better though!!! i promise.
hang in there, just keep thinking about those pretty new boobies!

Is the pain from your incisions or muscular? If it's muscular you will have more pain when trying to raise your arms (or breathe, hahahah fuuuun), and will have shooting pains around your rib cage (where your bra strap runs) and occassional spasms. They had to do a ton of manipulation on me due to chest muscle too and muscle relaxers worked WAY better for my pain. My Dr was a total ass about the pain meds but after I tried the muscle relaxers, I felt soooo much better. I just took a half of one with some Ibuprofen, since it works better than Tylenol for muscle pain, and I was able to return to my day job in less than a week.

    Best of Luck!

    Thanks everyone.
I'm going to try the foot massaging with accupressure chart.
I've decided to stick with the pain meds and crackers with hot tea. E gets worried that i'm not eating, but hey..it's better than puking!
I was thinking about bringing up the muscle relaxer. I'm hoping that might help.
It seems the swelling has increased on the right side. The left seems to be coming along very well. If my right just felt HALF as good I'd be so happy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this. I've never had hardcore pain meds before so I didn't know about the side effects with the intestines....that woulda been nice to know. Oh well.
Betterthenedan...I see you live in md...which dr. did you go to if you don't mind asking?

Gosh I didn't poo for well over a week after my BA, and I bloated up by 14 pounds because of it! Lucky for you, at least you're pooping. I'm sorry you have to deal with more pain than normal. A muscle relaxer is a good idea, I liked those better than the pain pills. It was the muscle squeezing the implant that gave me pains, so a relaxer sounds like what you need. I'm surprised the Dr. didn't set you up with those in the first place.

Wow you're having a tough recovery. Percocet [click the link for more info] can make people nauseas so don't forget to take a bit of food with them. The percs are probably keeping you from pooping. They are known to mess with your poo schedule. I still don't poop right. If you poo'd just when you put your phengren in then its probably all gone.

After my first BA, muscle relaxers were a godsend. What a relief it was to have them. Also, the shooting pains are normal. Its just the nerves trying to grow back. Its also normal for one side to drop faster than the other.
Sorry you're having such a shitty recovery time. It'll get easier you just gotta stick it out.

I saw the doc today. He gave me script for vallium to help with the muscle pain. I was shocked he didn't give me flexerall, but oh well. Hopefully that will work. I'm going to take aleve or ibuprofen on top of that OTC.
I was eating with the percs, but it was still causing sickness
My left is dropping..well to be more exact the breast tissue has dropped slightly but not the implant. Is that normal? The dr. didn't seem too worried. Just said that he'd like the real tissue not to drop much more. The right is still high. He said the skin is still really tight also. I hope the vallium works....he said most clients that go this route use them for like 3 days and then don't need anthing after that.
Thanks for all your helps guys!

They can give you Phernergan by mouth. The Phernegan alone will stop things up. The Percocet will make it worse. Try some anti-inflammatories like Toradol or Naproxin, they aren't quite as strong but you'll feel far less fucked up and be less constipated. With meds you kind of have to pick your battle. If you take them you have the side effects, if you don't you deal with the symptoms/pain. The anti-inflammatories will relieve some of your pain and they tend to have less side effects.

Also pain relievers like Hydrocodone, Darvocet and Percocet do cause nausea so that is why the Phernergan is necessary.

Valium can constipate as well but will definately help you relax.

Good luck with the valium. I hope it helps. If it doesn't ask specifically for a muscle relaxer. Pain meds did nothing but make me feel out of it but still in pain, but once I took half a muscle relaxer (can't remember the brand) I was almost completely pain free, just some moderate soreness, with no dizzy nausea. Before I took them I was in so much pain I could barely deal with it without screaming. (This coming from someone who had her wisdom teeth cut out with only novicane and drove myself home, and only took 1.5 vicoden the entire time. I usually deal with pain well.)

I've used flexerill before and had success. He prefers valium though. It is used as a muscle spasm relaxer, not so much a pain med. So I'm taking it with Aleve. Aleve seems to help with the pain mildly and hopefully valium will loosen the muscles so I can have less tension

I'm on painkillers on a reg basis..the Tonalin helps offset the constipation painkillers cause. A cup of strong coffee helps too. But every now and then I have to eat a bit of ex lax chocolate to keep things moving.

I'd ask your dr about what laxatives are safe for you right now...the constipation will make the pain from surgery even worse.

Valium will bind you up too but that's what I would have suggested.
Try eating brown rice in stead of crackers. It has so many good things in it and loads of fibre (good for the pooping yes). Strong coffee might be a bit much for a struggling digestive system, I'd reccomend black tea, like english breakfast or earl grey is good (The bergamot is soothing) with honey to keep your sugar up. Also ginger is great, you can get ginger pills or just grate fresh ginger into hot water as a tea, it's fantastic for nausea but won't do much for your bum.
    Hope you're feeling better soon.

He recommended dulcolax and it is working. I'm not too miserable in that department. The minute my last perc wore off my tummy felt better and I was able to have real food without pain. YAY!
I took the first valium and didn't notice much. I just took another (2 hours later..he said 2 at a time is ok) and want to see if that helps. If not, I don't know what I'll do. Luckily pain isn't that bad during the day. Mostly at night when I'm all propped up. I can't lie down because the pain in the muscle on the right lower breast pulls me into tears everytime.
I have ginger too...so maybe I'll put that in earl grey tea tomorrow morning.
I'd like to get back on nutrition programme asap. It's low carb, but not REALLY low carb. I haven't been tolerating proteins well though, so I'm hoping with the med change I can!

Your pain sounds really bad. I went under the muscle and besides a tight feeling in the chest I didn't experience much pain at all. However I did used to need pain killers at night for the first few nights. Good pain management is essential to you getting good sleep. The valium should make u drowsy and help with that.

Did u tell your surgeon about the sharp shooting pains?

Sorry I can't suggest anything else. maybe if your surgeon isn't helping much with proper pain relief you could go see your GP?

He said the sharp shooting pain was from the tightness of the skin. He said it's slightly normal for the size I went to coordination with the lift. He figures it will go away with the valium
So I took 1 valium at midnight, 2 at 4am and 2 at 8am. OMFG I feel FANTASTIC. I've never been on benzos before and I love ove love them. I felt like superwoman this am when i woke up. My doctor is my new hero! I still feel a little fucked up, but I don't have pain or a care in the world. I'm going to use just one every four hours in the day though. The pain is less then and I am functional on 1. When I woke up I was psyched. TOTALLY PSYCHED. I had a lush bath with marathon (meant for sore muscles) some sugar free coco coffee beverage and listened to Hearts of Space Circular Breathing. OMG I was in heaven. Probably still the happy vibes of the valium. Hell, I'm still having happy vibes.
DR said I go could go for walks too if I felt like. I might take my ole doggy since he doesn't pull at all. The youngin's gonna have to stay home. She can be naughty. Plus she can go to the dogpark and run like a fiend anyways.
This is now a happy thread!!
