    Default What The Hell

So I woke up this morning and uncovered my birds. I notice blood in the tiels cage..so I check them out thinking they broke a bloodfeather. Nope. My old man bird somehow managed to slice off his toe in the night. This is the SECOND one of my birds that has had toe issues...one got a string off a rope perch wrapped around his toe and we had to have it amputated @2 years ago. Theres NOTHING in the cage now that would cause this..I have no idea how it happened.
I took the toenail off and cleaned it up..stopped the bleeding. He seems shaky, but otherwise ok. If it worsens I'll take him in,but the only thing besides antibiotics you can do is amputate..and being 16 years old, that isnt really an option. The anesthesia would likely kill him.

So I just have to keep it sterile and keep the antibiotic ointment on it and hope for the best pretty much.

I fucking knew my good luck had to run out soon.If I lose him..I'll be insane. I knew I didnt have much time left with him..but not like this.

OMG I am so sorry. Poor little birdie. I hate hearing about bad things happening to little birdies, they are the sweetest pets in the whole world.

Could a vet tell you how he might've sliced his toe off?
