    Default Sheriff's Card=Revoked

So I heard something interesting tonight....

Apperently a girl I work with (who is very scandelous BTW) went to work in Vegas and had her Sheriff's card taken away and wasn't allowed to work anymore.

I've worked in Vegas for 3 years and never heard of this.

My question is this....what would one have to do to lose their Sheriff's card? The only thing I can think of is prostitution...but wouldn't you have to get arrested first?

Was it taken by the club or ... ? I've heard of clubs holding onto cards so girls cant work anywhere else. Maybe she used false identification to get it in the first place?

^^^^I thought that at first...but she worked at my club, and they only hold on to your card if you ask them to (for convenience). It wasn't a fake either, she's well over 21.

More then anything else, I'm curious.
I've seen a lot of crazy stuff in Vegas, but never anything that resulted in having a card taken away. Plus, if there are rules or laws that would result in that, I'd like to know about them!

But also, I don't think it's fair that people are talking about this girl without knowing what really happened. How can they tell people she got in trouble for prostitution if they weren't there? Or never even been to Vegas for that matter?
I figured SW would have some better insight or knowledge about what could have happened.

Maybe she didn't pay her housefees upfront? Clubs will hold your card to ensure you pay before you leave, but if she didn't pay then, hey would still have her card.

I can't think of any other reason, really, unless she was arrested in the club and they took her card at the police station. Or if she was arrested for doing something, and when her card was up for renewal she was refused a new one.

I mean, how else can they revoke it? they dont knock on yrou door and ask for it back. They can't put into the system that the card is not valid because clubs dont run yoru sheriffs card through a system to see if it's valid, they just use the numbers to check you in and out.

But then again, I dont seee how they can revoke yrou sheriffs card for a crime. Because the sherrifs card isnt just used to strippers. it's used to work anywhere in this city. for any job. Just cause you had a pros. charge doesnt mena your blackballed from finding employment anywhere in the city. Withotu a sherriffs card, ther eis no way yu can work in las vegas at all. There are 2 types of sherrifs card, gaming and nongaming. Gaming cards ar used for casinos dealers, adn non gaming are used for everyone else, from strippers to bankers. It is basicially a lisence to work in the city. So I dont see how they can revoke it and say You canot find employment in our city.

So I think that the club must have taken her card for not paying a fee.

the most likely reason that a Dancer's License will be pulled is that, because of increased communication between the criminal charge databases of different states, the Nevada Sherriff just found out that this girl had a previous charge in Florida or Texas or some other 'distant' state that she neglected to list on her Dancer's License application. Depending on how particular Dancer's Licensing laws are written, sometimes the mere existance of a previous charge in another jurisdiction (regardless of whether a conviction ever occurred) is enough to deny / revoke the license.

Another reminder for all dancers. Being busted for violating a local strip club ordinance, or a state prostitution / lewd conduct law, or a drug bust, or a theft / larceny bust, from anywhere in the country, can potentially disqualify you from obtaining a Dancer's License in Vegas, Atlanta, Houston, and other cities that require them ... EVEN IF the bust was bogus and no conviction ever occurred.

Therefore pay particular attention before agreeing to a plea bargain / suspended sentence / indefinitely delayed ejudication etc. that the original charge will be expunged from your permanent record, otherwise it might just percolate up eventually in a state 1000 miles away and prevent you from working there.

Who took the card? The club or the police? How do you know it's been "revoked"?

The LVMPD (Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept.) are the only people that can "revoke" your card.

If the club took it, they took it under the direction of the LVMPD or because she owes the club money and thus the card is not revoked.

Does she have a felony on her record? Any convicted person has to register with The LVMPD while they're in Las Vegas, regardless if they have a sheriffs card or not.

When I got mine they checked to make sure I wasn't a felon, if you are one you can't work in the industry in Vegas. If she obtained a felony record at some point before the license expired, they probably wouldn't let her renew it.
And what Melonie said, if she was in a bust of some sort, you know they took down her info and entered her into the system.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

I almost didn't get mine b/c of a public lewdness charge in another state, they had to call the other state to make sure prostitution wasn't involved. It wasn't so Iwas fine but they said the only reason you would be denied one would be something that is considered prostitution.

in other states public lewdness means different things, they told me in Vegas all public lewdness is pros. . in my case i got arrested for touching a girl custy on her bum when she came up to tip me (like a little spank). They called someone in my arresting state and said that in vegas that would be called something else other than public lewdness.

Public lewdness doesn't have to happen at the strip club. It could be anywhere in public.
