Default odd tip, but it works...

When sitting with a customer, I try to think of someone of he reminds me of. Doesn't matter who it is -- the first person that pops in my mind, and it actually works better if I don't analyze it at all -- as long as it's someone I know pretty well. Then I kinda respond to the customer as if I were responding to the person they remind me of. It's like instant rapport.

I think that feeling of being reminded of someone gives me a lot of information about the customer on an almost subconscious level. I start reacting the way I've learned to react to the person that I know, and it "magically" works with the new person, too.

I don't know if I'm explaining well, but this definitely works for me. It's not something I use to get single dances on a busy nights, but if I'm working a slower hustle and trying to make a bigger sale, or already in the CR and trying to keep someone enterained for a long period of time, it's really useful.

I do this automatically, I think. What really sucks is if the guy reminds me of someone I don't like though. I meet guys that occasionally remind me of ex's and it makes me sick to my stomach to talk to them. Or worse if the guy reminds me of a family member. *gag*

Otherwise it works great. I sell VIPs to the alter-egos of my friends all the time.

i play the celebrity game with other dancers and customers. it's a fun game if there are dancers or clients who look like celebrities.

sometimes I kick back with a custy and point out a guy and say he looks like x-famous-person, or I point out the girls who look like cameron diaz, or jessica simpson.

I don't try to trick myself into doing it, but I'll have to reconsider this because the guy a few nights ago that I said looked like kevin spacey (he was actually a client I was talking to, and I was like, hey, you know who you remind me of? Kevin spacey? I just saw him in 21 and I think he's hot!"

Ended up getting five dances and then we had to go to the atm. he was angling for a free dance, so I said, hey-- you get one more dance, then I'll give you another dance for free (and these are $60 dances, house gets $10)

it's only happened like that once before, so I'm going to have to see if I can work that celebrity angle.
