    Default Having a "cheat day"

Is it a good or bad idea to have 1 day a week where you allow yourself to cheat on your diet? Will it totally wreak the previous 6 days of moderate calorie intake or will it help keep your metabolism on its toes?

How would it wreck the previous six days? Even if you're eating one 3000 calorie day, you're not eating seven of them. Which is HEAPS better than just not dieting.

Or make healthy alternatives. Today I made a white rice and egg white pasta with tomatoes and steamed broccoli and it was yum!

It's always good to have a cheat day, at least I think so. For me, it was my way to have something that I can't have regularly, and it kept me on track and it didn't mess with my metabolism at all.

Sometimes, denying yourself completely is the worst thing you can do, my theory is you can have anything you want, in moderation.

It's a good thing, depending on how much you cheat. Like, having three peices of pizza as opposed to the whole pan.

^ that's a really good way to put it!

if you never allow yourself cheat days, you're going to be miserable.

I've always been told a cheat day is a bad idea. You usually consume WAY more than you think in a whole day and it can set you back. That's what every trainer has ever told, and what I'm learning in school.
It is better to have 2-3 cheat MEALS throughout the day. By that I don't mean a HUGE four course meal. I mean, have a dessert OR eat something greasy, or eat something you're been craving. But not all in one day.
Even if is is 3000 calories your body can take up to an additional 24-48 hours to recouperate.

I've never done cheat days. If I want something, I can't wait till the end of the week to have it. I let myself enjoy a bit in moderation, and I don't fall off track.
