So, first off- I really had no idea where to put this so mods feel free to move!
The number of suicides is rising in both our middle-age population and our military, due to varying factors such as the economy, the war, antidepressant medications, untreated illnesses and many others.
As a nursing student, I have seen firsthand the suicide attempts that come in through the ER, and I've been in the psychiatric hospital talking to those who have attempted suicide or had friends/family commit suicide. I can personally attest that although suicide is traditionally an adolescence and geriatric problem, it is rising in the middle-age population.
I'm curious to see what you all think and spark a discussion regarding this disturbing trend.
