Has anyone tried it and was it a successful program for you?
What did you like about it and what didn't you like?
Lastly, were you hungry and did you feel like you were dieting?

I've done it with success. But then I fall off the wagon sometimes too and that doesn't help. I've been really bad lately.![]()
You're not too hungry from my experience, because it measures "points" instead of calories. Certain foods, like vegetables, are 0 points so you can eat TONS of them without consequence. Those foods are high in fiber and keep you full.
It's a nice program because you can still eat a burger every once in a while and it retrains your brain to be smarter about food choices. Also, when you exercise you get more food points that you can eat so it encourages you to exercise.![]()
I am thinking of trying it too. A friend of mine did it for awhile and lost a TON of weight. She's kept it off for almost a year now, too.

I think that it is a great program!
I fell of though because I stopped going to meetings (I didn't have the net back then) I was only 10lbs over weight at the time; whereas the other women were at least 50lbs and they would make me feel really uncomfortable. They would look at me as if to say what the fuck are you doing here lol
The good thing about it is that you don't feel deprived.
I think nutri-system is better.. Larry the cable guy lost 50 lbs. on it.![]()

^^ Exactly why I would never join. Its crossed my mind once or twice. I've had a few friends have great luck losing about 20lbs with it. I have a pretty clean, healthy diet though but I still can't seem to lose the last 10lbs (who can though, right?). I've taken a few nutrition classes and thought I had a pretty decent understanding of what was going in my body but its still not budging. I've been thinking about meeting with a real RD and seeing where I could tighten up my diet.

hmmm..my trainer told me that I would be very fit if I were to drop 10lbs and tone up. I am going to do this with weight training and proper eating, which is why I'd like to give Weight Watchers a try. I have heard the meetings are motivating, and I am not worried about people making me feel like an outcast because in LA, 10lbs overweight is like 20 so I am sure there will be other "lightweights" at the meetings too.
I am so sad because for the past month, I have been hitting the gym and eating really well. I stepped on the scale 2 weeks ago and saw that I had gained 2lbs. I stepped on it today and saw that I gained another 2lbs.
Seriously, I could cry. How unmotivating and disappointing.
Kaiyla, we are sooo in the same boat. I would be in great shape if I lost about 10lbs and toned a bit too. I know what you mean about 10lbs in LA seeming like 20 elsewhere. I was traveling a lot over the past year to pretty remote places to dance and it was almost like culture shock to see what people outside big metropolitan (and vain) cities look like. I'm really not in great shape but everywhere else but LA I feel like Ms. Olympia. I hate LA frequently because of this. People definitely have unreal expectations around here. Me being short doesn't help either because 5-10lbs is the difference between feeling like a sex machine and feeling like a tubby, former fat kid again. Well, if you ever need someone to commiserate with...*raises hand*

Kat, thanks for the support!! You are short too? Now I know we are in the same boat for sure! I am 5'0 and much to my absolute horror, weighed in at 116lbs this morning. I have always had hip/boobs and a little waist but I see the weight in my thighs and arms..yuck. Typically, I weight in around 109-114 but I don't know what the hell happened. How could working out propel me backward? I am just hoping that I am losing inches and have gained muscle.
LA makes me feel like a total heffer. You are so right, 10lbs here=20lbs.
You also hit the nail on the head with the vanity point as well. I moved here from Massachussetts and there I was petite and thin. Here...well, heffer![]()

The BMI chart says I am fine and in a healthy range but I don't know if I trust those.
Note to add: I just found out that my health insurance (Blue Cross) covers my registration at Weight Watchers! I still have to pay weekly/monthly dues but hey, free registration. I will be attending my first meeting earlier this month and will update on progress.
Yup I'm 5' 1/2" (when you're short that 1/2" counts! damnit!) and I usually hover between 108 and 115. Lately, I've been on the high side of that but after I stopped taking BC pills about 2 weeks ago its dropped easily. I carry it all in my thighs and it seems like it will never go away. I'd be really happy at about 100 but that hasn't happened since high school when I was doing ballet 4 hours a day.
I'm totally frustrated with BMI/Calorie Allotment/Nutritional charts. It seems like in many they took an average sized woman and just subtracted from her numbers to get what us shorties are "supposed" to eat or weigh. They never seem accurate. I actually took a few nutrition classes last fall and it seems to me like the ADA really needs to revamp their numbers, especially for petite women.

^Agreed.
Thankfully there is no L.A. based BMI chart though. At 116lb/5'0, and no extra 1/2", I would probably register as Profoundly Obese, by their standards.
^^ Haha...ohhh that made my day.
I'm probably a gastric bypass candidate in this city too.
ETA: Total fucking sarcasm here. Its people in LA who have BDD and unreal expectations.

Boo, stop ragging on yourselves! You're not obese, crazy ladies!!
But BMI standards aren't a good way of measuring weight/height ratio. It doesn't take into consideration most body types or the weight of muscle mass, which weighs considerably more than fat. If you're all muscle, you might be "overweight" but extremely fit.
Weight Watchers is good for people who eat out a lot 'cause it allows you to have almost any food as long as it's in moderation. I like that 'cause I can't resist all temptations and I don't want to be expected to.
Also, I only use the online site. I've never been to a meeting. Yes, I'm more likely to fall off the wagon 'cause I don't have that in person support but there are message boards and other members online I can chat with. Plus, I think public weigh ins are humiliating.

^Public weigh ins. Maybe 7lbs ago, but now, ew.
I hear what you are saying though. My trainer says she thinks the calipers will tell me more than the scale was but as crazy as it is, I am not ready for that yet. I am one of those people that is motivated by positive things and if the calipers read like the scale do right now, that's a total doomer for future progress.
