It was a lot of fun. It wasn't scary at all !
Brief Rundown :
Club #1 : High end club wastes both of our time by telling me the wrong time to audition . The person told me to come between 8-11 p.m. and when I called around 8:30 p.m. to make sure they had time to audition me , they said " we need you here by 9 p.m. " . So ... I got there, was frazzled ( make up done and hair done, but straight off a plane, did have time to add more stripperish makeup ) . I didn't feel ready , and didn't do bad on stage, but they didn't hire me . They had girls walking around with champagne! I wanted a glass of it damn it and whatever money those girls were making to sip it. Grrrr.......
Club #2 : Called and they said it was too late to audition, so I said I would come by a visit the club. I just showed up and asked for an audition ( again ). They said it was too late. Doorman was quite cute and young and was smoking a joint outside around the corner.
Club #3 : I went to another club down the street from club #2 ( around 11 p.m. by now ) . They saw my bag and let me audition even though they had also said on the phone that it was too late. The vibe was very laid back and this time I felt ready. I asked a few people to come watch me on stage and support the audition while I waited to go up. Learned that being on stage feels natural and is LOTS OF FUN. Club #3 says I'M HIRED and can work whatever shifts I want. I asked to stay and finish working the shift , but they don't let me .
It's VERY weird to me that San Francisco clubs don't have a full tip rail and people tipping a lot . In Utah, people sit front and center and tip . It's much more stage oriented ( didn't dance there , just waitressed ) . I think I could deal with selling dances, but it's very different than what I've seen before. I'm not really sure about doing contact dances ( light is fine , heavy isn't ) .
PROS :
Way excited to tell you girls (and SW guys) that I finally did this !
I'm very excited to finally do this for myself. I need to focus on my day job this week, but I at least wanted to audition.
I was getting obsessed with doing this and losing focus on my day gig , so I either have to focus on making more money at my regular job or dance and not just think about dancing.
I'm not sure if it's right for me , but at least I tried it.
CONS :
I'm not sure if San Francisco is the right place for me because scheduling seems pretty strict. I was hoping to work just a few days a month ( basically, when I'm here aleady for my day job ) , but I can add more days dancing and take less clients in my day gig if necessary.
Having to wait to work seems so stupid and a complete waste of time. If they can do paperwork and let me work the next day, why can't they do it right then and let me work?
