    Default Pilates Video

I'm looking into doing pilates but it seems every video I preview, it reminds me of the 80's big hair, bad lycra, porn music, over-energetic workouts of my youth. I hate boppy "OH-KAY!" workout videos. It puts me off and I return them or sell them. I saw some Pilates videos made by Gaiam but I have no idea if they are any good. Any recommendations? If not pilates, what other workouts do you recommend? I can't go to the gym right now or I'd be all over that elliptical (I can't wait until August when I can get my membership back!!) but right now I am stuck doing the DVD route.

I've done a lot of work out videos lol, especially Pilates, and the one that gave me the quickest results was a really simple Denise Austin one. The tape consisted of two maybe twenty minute workouts, one was more pilates-oriented and the other was more yoga. I've done a lot more intense and longer vids but that short, simple one gave me the most results by far.

Denise Austin annoys the begeezus out of me...so if you're annoyed by her, pass on the video.

Gaiam is good, but the one problem is that if you do not already know the positions, etc...they go through them really fast. If you're already doing Pilates and you are just looking for a video, it may be ok. But, I bought the beginner video for my mom and Ana (forgot her last name) goes through the movements so fast that no beginner would be able to keep up with her.

I recommend Windsor Pilates. It's good for both beginner and intermediate (and advanced if you are just looking for someone to lead you through the exercises). It is a bit more expensive, but it's worth it.

I liked the Crunch series. They have pilates, yoga, a video consisting of 10 minute workout for each your butt, thighs, and abs and they have a nice variety of other videos.

I like the Gaiam Ouick Start Pilates for Weight Loss with Ana Caban. I started with that one. Its set on a really beautiful beach in Hawaii and that makes it more motivating, less boring IMO.
