    Default quick fix. . . .

okay, so i'm supposed to be auditioning at a new club this wednesday, but i woke up this morning with a sore throat and swollen tonsils. the manager said i could come in to audition any day between wednesday to saturday. i really want to audition on a wednesday over the other days of the week when the club will be busier. does anyone know how to get rid of a sore throat quickly?

Go get something OTC - maybe something warm to drink like Thera-Flu for sore throats.

Anytime I feel like I'm starting to get sick I take 1000 mg vitamin c each day until I get better. And then when I can remember I take 500-1000mg a day.

Very warm water with iodized salt in it.

The warmth of the water helps bring the infection to the surface [like a hot compress], the salt crystals scour the throat to remove infection on the surface, the iodine in the iodized salt acts as a disinfectant.

It will sting but follow that up with Listerine. It does kills a lot of germs and viruses. To kill minor pain numb the throat with Chloraseptic spray or lozenges.

    Works for me.

Unless you have a blood pressure problem, or allergic to iodine, as much as you can tolerate without gagging. The water should be as hot as you can stand it too.

Usually a slightly rounded teaspoon or so of the salt to about 4 ounces [half glass] of water does the trick. You want enough so all the salt doesn't disappear. The undissolved crystals do the scouring.

My theater friends always recommended "as salty as the sea and as hot as bathwater".

Other than all the other good suggestions above me, I'd say rest your voice as much as possible. If you have a fever, put off the audition until it breaks. Drink lots of fluids. Take aspirin to lower swelling of the tonsils but be careful as it could be something like strep throat.

    Feel better!

ETA: I just saw that you're supposed to audition today! Are you feeling up to it?

Thanks for all of the advice. I've been taking Thera-Flu and that seems to help. Also, I found that taking hot water w/ honey and lemon helps get rid of the pain, as well as, taking hot water w/ a couple of teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Though I must say the first tastes better, but the later seems to soothe my throat more. Today I was finally able to start swallowing soft foods again.

Try Chloraseptic, (I think that's how you spell it) it works wonders on sore throats.
