Default Who is feeling like a failure in their non-stripping job ?

Maybe failure is too much of an extreme, but I've been doing this for 8 years. I have my B.S. degree and I'm not starving to death, but I'm just so damn tired. I have a TON of flexibility and major perks with what I do and I AM grateful for it. Maybe I just need a break. Dancing could give me that break I need, but I'm feeling like " what the hell ..... I have my degree .... I should making more doing what I'm already doing ". However .... when I look at this list of things to do to actually make more , I'm like " I'd really rather just dance right now and see how that goes for a few weeks". To increase my income my other job , it will take 25 hours or so a week of marketing along with my other hours. I don't have 3 hours a week to spare, let alone 20+.

    Anyone else ?

I wish I had advice to give, but I don't have a non-stripping job. I have been putting off college due to fear of failure (for the second time) and the fact that dancing has spoiled me. I don't think I could ever work in an office environment again.

I work on the side as an Aid (Aide??) to the elderly. There are a couple of adult communities and a nursing home within 20 minutes of me here. The pay isn't so great.. but it *IS* very satisfying.

Carmen_b, girl I feel you on this one. I work for a great energy company but its so much BS I have to do to make the real money I need/want. I'm still working on B.S. but I do have my A.S. and I'm ready to start dancing to pay off some of my debt. It's crazy I'm stripping after I invest so much time & energy into school. The only regret I have was not thonking stripping earlier, it would have save me alot of money. Keep your head we will figure things out.

Pretty much....I've only been able to go into the club a couple times so far because of my other job waitressing (not at a strip club).

I actually just quit the waitressing gig yesterday. It was bullshit. Some nights...actually most nights where I worked I'd walk away with less than 40 bucks in tips. Once it was 23 bucks and I said 'fuck it.'.

I'm a full time student as well so for as little time as I have to have a job and not go insane working to death, making that kind of money waitressing was becoming increasingly not worth it.

I'm a nurse and a dancer. Nursing does have the added benefit of flexible hours, but still, after working full-time (regardless of the hours worked), it's difficult to make time to dance. I like dancing on the side-it's an great supplement to my income, and I actually enjoy it (usually). Like anything else you want to accomplish, make it a priority and REALLY want it, and you'll find a way to fit it in and make it happen. If at all possible, I do recommend maintaining your regular job, at least part-time. It's important to go through the steps it takes to get into the job you want, and stripping does nothing (on the resume) for you, and actually might work against you due to the time "out of the game". Don't let that happen. Also, I can't imagine the stress that I'd feel if I had to rely on dancing as my main source of income. Sure, money is usually great, and very allluring, but I'm seeing people who didn't used to do things for money who now are-the economy isn't too bright right now, so there's less money overall in the clubs. More competition, more extras, etc. that I'm seeing. So sad in my opinion, as I do really feel for the girls who feel the need to resort to this stuff. But, you've earned options for yourself with your degree, etc., don't let that go for dancing, in my opinion. Dance on the side if you can. Good luck!

Well, in the sense that the non-stripping job is not a job that fulfills my dreams. I can't and won't quit it since I need to have a solid and dependable career. I don't function well if I don't have the bills paid (and my hair done ). So I look at dancing as a way to get some cash that won't have to go to bills, but instead will create a business that has to do with what I'm passionate about -- a business I can work at on the weekends. Yes, I do know what you mean about being so tired.

I'm with badpixie. I think I was even before I danced, though. Offices are... I want to say soul-deadening, but I don't think everyone finds them so. I feel personally allergic to them. Based on the last few experiences I had temping, I think they're mostly allergic to me.

When I go back to school (aaaagain) it is going to be for a medical profession. I'm still considering among a few, but the first year of prerequisites are the same for the ones I'm interested in, and I suspect for others as well.

There is no way in hell I would do an office job. My job is pretty cool .

I actually have fought really hard to do this and work at the level that I do.

The bottom line is that I shouldn't feel bad about not making stripper $ at it , it's not stripping (duh ).

I'd love to hear from other gals about how they handle the balancing act.

a lot of office buildings are physically unhealthy. no proper filtration, will make you sick regardless of the work.

i don't work in an office much, but it's an historic building about 150 years old, something crazy like that. and it's healthier. if i'm making 200k per year working 25 hours a week, an office job is quite all right, especially if i'm only there one or two times a week.

Oh, no way. That's why stripping is so hard to give up!

I miss the freedom that I had as a dancer. I hate my job and I've contemplated quitting many times to dance full-time, but I'm afraid that I won't earn as much as I need to. I've always danced part-time for the most part. I'll be going back to school in the fall to finish my B.A. Until then, I'll probably stay at my current job and work at the club on my off days.
