    Default Kefir...again

I just bought some kefir and I dont know what to do with it other than a smoothie. It's soo bitter. I'd like some kefir recipes. I did search and got about 3. Any more?

Bitter? I didn't know that. You can use it as a substitute in any recipe that calls for milk, yogurt, cream etc..

I had a good one. Kefir with splenda and papaya. I heard from a nutrionist that stevia is healthier though. She also mentioned throwingin some protein powder.

Splenda in rare cases can cause permanent gastric paralysis and transient ischemic attacks!

I'm not normally a hair-trigger "yarr! your food is dangerous!" person -- usually I'm more for balancing nature and science, all things in moderation, not jumping to conclusions, etc. But this health crisis happened to a friend of my partner's (as well as to one of the people in the initial study) so this is one of my button issues.

Basically, it was approved based on the idea that it passes through undigested, but a sizable fraction of people (no one's quite sure, but between 1 and 5 percent or so) actually do digest it, and it can cause various kinds of alarming reactions in those cases.

So yeah, go for stevia. :-)

    I'm looking into stevia tonight.
I did the splenda test awhile ago. I had no difference, so supposedly i acutely tolerate it
    I use it sparringly also.

I used to mix kefir into protein pancake mix. Tasted great!

I am sure you could make some kick ass muffins too.

Otherwise, I bet you could make a nice sauce for something like lamb, yogurt and lamb taste great together.

But to be fair, my default has always been smoothies heh.

E had it with muesli last night and liked it
I had it with a spot of vanilla and 5 sliced strawberries. That was very tastey...I didn't need any addition sweetner
Plus I'm getting into this whole getting off sweetners to begin with kick.

I'm having kefir and its good surprisingly. Its this brand and the cherry low fat one.

Tastes just like a cherry yogurt smoothie.

Def. get Stevia. And get it from Trader Joe's, theirs is much less bitter & more on the sweeter side. I quit Splenda forever.

I've actually started eating this as my breakfast. 1/2 cup Kefir with low sugar/low card acai berry granola sold by whole foods in bulk. It's so awesome tasting and very little sugar. It's a nice kick start to my morning workout routine.

Go on Curezone.com they have recipes on there as well. Just type in Kefir recipes in the toolbar on the site. I mixed some in my pancakes and they came out really good. Kefir is really good for you, but I ended killing mine on accident. I have to say though it is rather hard to eat if you make it yourself, it is very bitter. They only way I will eat it is if I make it myself from organic kefir grains.
