    Default Washing sparkles

What are peoples thoughts on putting shiny/sparkly lycra in the washing machine/ dryer?

I usually hand wash everything, but I've done something awful to my shoulder and have left it too late (I fly out in the morning).

    Will they die?

If I even tried it, I'd do it on as delicate a cylce as possible and cold water... but personally, could be a very bad idea.

I have a few outfits with sequins on them, I wash in the machine on the delicate cycle and hang dry.

I hand wash and air dry. Never in the machine. It's outfit murder.

some sequins will MACHINE wash - and ALWAYS in cold water and NEVER Use the dryer.

lycra with metallic imprint can MACHINE wash on delicate also in cold but the shelf life of this fabric is short anyway.

    absolutely NO DRYER.

I second the stockings suggestion if you do not have a lingere bag to use.

It also depends on what kind of adhesive is used to attach adhesive-y sparklies, like glitter and rhinestones.

But the OP could also be talking about lycra that's innately shiny-ized, and I don't know about that, but it sounds like a safer bet with washing.

Sequins? Really?? I've never washed something with sequins! Which is why I haven't bought sequinny things for ages. If it's possible, now I'm really curious...

It was fine, no fatalities. I washed them on a delicate cycle and hung them on hangers overnight. I accidently left one piece in with the regular clothes and it went through the dryer but it's fine. Yay for less work.
