It varies from club to club. I have been to one here in Desmoines that all the customers were wearing gang colors and causing fights whil a few of the other ones have a strict rules of no t-shirts. that all shirts have to have a collar and one here in town has a business type casual dress code to weed out the young kids and adults. more of a upscale club.

Well, yeah, I don't get why one would wear a hat indoors to begin with. People wear a hat to keep warm, or to keep out of the sun; neither is a problem indoors.

Yeah, I agree. If a club is trying to attract a certain demographic, it can attempt to do so by a dress code. There is nothing wrong with a strip club that attracts frat boys, but if I want to enjoy myself at a gentleman's club as opposed to a strip club catering to frat boys, I appreciate a dress code. The clothes do make the atmosphere.

The dress code at my club is pretty strictly enforced. No hats whatsoever, no athletic wear (such as basketball shorts, track pants), no hoodies, no plain white or black tee shirts, no baggy pants, no sleeveless shirts. That's pretty much par for the course in any respectable nightclub, strip club, or nicer bar/lounge in the city though.

I get all of that but the "No plain t shirts". I mean - I even get "no t shirts" but why "no plain t shirts"?

Well, I know that the owners and managers of my club are big time racists and don't care who knows it, so I always assumed that it was a way to keep black people from coming into the club. However, I once saw this being enforced at a popular bar in the city too, so who knows. I don't get it either.
