Default my mum's been hospitalised for bipolar

my poor mum. she has battled with bipolar for a long time. she has deteriorated over the last 10 weeks - mostly been manic but she has lost a dramatic amount of weight and hardly been sleeping. she shakes all the time.

it took some serious convincing that she needed to go on. i had to be very careful not to offend her too coz she gets sensitive about it. so she made the decision to go stay at a small private psychiatric hospital. I am very proud of her.

She just rang me and said she loves me very much and she is upset that she had to go to hospital but she will try hard to get better.

I feel sad but I know it's the only way she will get better.

    Thanks for listening.

wow hope she gets well soon, or stable, or whatever the goal is. Good on her for being brave enough to admit herself voluntarily. Must be a relief for you.

Well... looking on the bright side, it's great that she agreed to go! A lot of people with this problem refuse treatment, refuse to grasp there is a problem. Great stuff that she is getting some help.

I would guess that no one wants to be sick and hospitalized. (Well maybe someone suffering from hypochondria?).

I hope your mom gets the help she needs and is able to come home soon. It sucks being sick.

She must be going through such a hard time right now. I was recently diagnosed with BPD after being hospitalized and it's a difficult thing to get through. You must be so proud of her for being so brave right now, jai.

You are a wonderful daughter to care about your mom so much. As someone who has been hospitalized in the past for BPD I know how terrified your mother must feel now. She will recover though and get the help she needs. Stay strong.

That's nice to hear that your Mother and you are close. My Mother has mental problems too and I know how difficult and scary it can be.

I'm sorry this is going on with your mom, I know how much it sucks to have a family member be ill with a mental illness. Hopefully she's getting the help she needs. PM if you need to talk.

My father has bipolar and has been in hospital quite a few times for it, so I understand how anxious you might be feeling right now. It's really quite a manageable thing once the right medication is found. Here's hoping it all works out quickly for your mother.

Keep us updated! The fact that she made this choice is a good sign - I'll bet the prognosis is optimistic!

I hope while there they and she will find the right meds for her. BPD is life-long and is treated long term with meds, but finding some that will keep her going and healthy is challenge, though more are being developed regularly now that brain chemistry technology is much better understood. Goodluck to your family.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

Wow, I'm so sorry Jai! It's so scary when our loved ones have to be hospitalized; my mom was too this last month. But they helped her and she'll be going back to work soon, and I'm sure they'll help out your mom too! Keep strong like we know you are, and PM me if you want to talk.

This is not the first time, it has happened quite a few times. But I visited her yesterday and she is looking and sounding much better already. She doesn't look so strained in the face and she is not saying the same things over and over. I had a normal conversation with her, this has not happened many times in the past 10 weeks.

Thanks everyone for your concern and well wishes I really appreciate it.
