My interesting fact for the day was learned in Comparative Animal Physiology:
The compound that truffle pigs learn to seek out (when hunting for black truffles) is also exuded in the sweat of human males.
If a particular human male exudes a great deal of this compound, truffle pigs will "express an intense interest" in him.![]()
For some reason, this seemed to explain a lot--about me, about males, about truffles, and about sex.
The compound is known as "5-anol" (among other names.)
What interesting fact did you learn today?
