    Default BMI

Ok, now granted my scale needs a new battery BADDLY so I'm not sure if it's lying to me; but I'm still amazed that even though my BMI is lower than some of the ladies on here they look waaaay skinnier than me lol. Not that it matters, I'm just wondering if I should make my goal BMI a little higher because I didn't take into consideration that I'll hopefully be gaining a lot of muscle. What do you think is a good BMI goal for a 5'9 woman? I wanna be as skinny as I can without looking "too" skinny, if you know what I mean! Thanks for any advice!

BMI doesn't take into account muscle mass/fat and your height doesn't matter. It's just a mathematical equation to systematically tell you if you're underweight, overweight or obese by quacky medical standards.

    ^ Exactly.

Throw away the scale, throw away the junk food, hit the gym 6 days a week (3 for weights, 3 for cardio) and just let your body do what it needs to.

Trying to attain a goal that is not realistic for YOUR body is just a waste of time. Just because there are girls who are 5'9 and wear a size 0 does not mean that it's ideal for you.

Ok thanks for the advice! I'll do exactly that. Being a newb and all I was just about ready to do the whole drop a bunch of weight really fast in unhealthy ways model-esque crap. Glad to know I don't even have to bother. Now hitting the gym that often might be hard with my current schedule, but I was thinking about getting a stripper-dance dvd. Any suggestions for a good one for newbs? That would be cool because I'm home with my baby almost all day so I could just practice practice practice lol.

I had Carmen Electra's stripper workout video (don't remember the exact name), it was kinda fun, and the moves were decent, but I didn't really break a sweat. Maybe you could try running around your neighborhood, you could also pick up some dumbells, and an Oxygen magazine because they have a ton of at home workouts.

Put baby in the stroller and go for a walk a couple times a day (maybe in the morning and at dinner time).

It's what I did with both of my kids and I dropped all of my pregnancy weight in record time.

If you cannot make it to the gym that often, then go to the gym on M, W, F and do weights and on the other days, stay home and walk/jog with baby in the stroller. Cardio is nice because you can do it anywhere.

Wow thanks so much! I'm usually a lazy girl when it comes to exercise (I was lucky as a teen I never had to work for an amazing body) but now it's different after having children lol. So yeah I'm not used to making a exercuse schedule, and this helps tremendously.

At 5'9" anything between like 127 and 155 or something is considered healthy. There are plenty of online calculators though I would recommend you go by bodyfat rather than BMI to judge your fitness.

I'm 5'9'' and am generally about 133 and I still look chubbish. My BMI is like 19 something, so on the low end but because I don't work out I'm kind of "skinny-fat".

Even though the number on the scale is important to me (yha, yha.) I'd rather stay 133 or even higher forever and be all muscle than how I am right now. Basically, I'm saying BMI doesn't have much do do with anything.
