    Default Nose job worries!

    Hi ladies!
I just joined, and I have MILLIONS of questions! However, my first one concerns my nose.
I've been considering rhinoplasty since 5th grade (I'm a freshman in college). I've seen three doctors, done extensive research on all three (any malpractice suits, post-op pics, etc.) and I've chosen a doctor.
However, here's what's holding me back:
    - He's cheap ($2,195)
    - My family and friends are against it
    - This one is going to sound really stupid, but...I feel like I'm getting signs not do it. Like, for example, I was watching CSI the other day and the plot was a woman died after getting liposuction. (Please don't laugh at that one! )
Anyways, I was wondering what you all think about the price and the choice. If any of you live in the Minneapolis, MN or Des Moines, IA and have plastic surgeon suggestions, please post their website or name. If you have ANY advice at all, it would be very welcome!
    Thanks girlies!

I wouldn't worry about what your friends/family thinks. Its YOUR nose.
and that is a really cheap price. Does that include the anesthesiologist and hospital fee?
Mine cost $6,300 in california for everything......

I wouldn't worry too much about what your friends and family think. They'll get over it.

I would be concerned about the price, that's INCREDIBLY cheap. Have researched the Doctor on plastic surgery forums?

I'd be worried about the price too. Mine cost $5500 (including hospital and anesthesia) and I even worried about that being on the cheap side! I was expecting to pay $6000-$7000 to be honest. So far I'm really liking the result of mine. But honestly I'd run away from a doctor offering a $2100 rhinoplasty! What do other doctors in your area charge? It might be good to get an idea of the average cost in your area and see what others are charging.

Ok that price should definately concern you. My rhinoplasty cost $7500 just for the surgeons fees. That did not include anaesthesist fees or the cost of the operating room or hospital stay.

You MUST choose the best surgeon possible to do this. Your nose is the centre of your face and you cannot hide it if you get a botched surgery.

Do your research. Have consultations with more than one surgeon. View their before and after pics. Make sure you get a sense after meeting with a surgeon that he understood your concerns and you felt comfortable with him.

Do NOT worry about what anyone else thinks. This is a personal decision. It will affect you fo rthe rest of your life not anyone else.

I had my rhinoplasty 18 weeks ago and I am very glad I chose an excellent surgeon because the results are fantastic.

As for your concerns regarding signs not to do it. I wouldn't view that as a sign but rather you are experiencing normal anxiety about potentially having surgery. No surgery should ever be taken lightly. There are risks with surgery and if you didn't have some anxiety in regard to that it wouldn't be normal.

Yes, definitely worry about the price. $2100 for a rhino seems much too cheap to me.

Since you're in MN (I am too, btw) and considering doctors in the area, why not check out Dr. Denenberg? He's supposed to be one of the best in the country and is located in Omaha, but I've seen him advertise in MN.

i had rhinoplasty in 97 when i was 15. mine was more reconstructive since i had broken my nose as a kid and was having trouble breathing. I don't know what mine cost since the insurance I was on paid for everything. I agree that $2100 is cheap. do more research. My dr. here in arkansas was awesome! If you were closer i'd reccommend her Dr. Suzanne Yee.

Some docs will take a pic of you before and give you what you may look like after. A good doc will tell you what is the best shape of nose for your face. Good luck!

I had my nose done when I was 17 (now 21). I think The total was $3,000 and with insurance it ended up being $2,000. My surgeon is a very well respected doctor in Philadelphia. So I'm guessing the rates vary depending on location??

I had mine done when I was about 21 and it was some of the best money I ever spent. Like you, I'd wanted it done for years, since I was at least 12, if not younger. None of my family or friends thought I should do it. My mom was VERY against it.

The only thing I'd be leary of is a surgeon that cheap. I'm not saying it necessarily means he is no good, but that is VERY cheap. Mine was about $6000 for everything and that was about 15 years ago. Just make sure you research your surgeon really well because you don't want to end up with a messed up nose job.
