    Default Washington, DC and Chicago!

Okay so boy and I are going on a nice vacation at the end of the month. We're driving to Washington with a stop in Chicago

So umm... tell me... what are some must do things in these places? Neither of us have been to either place. We just decided it would be a fun road trip and much needed get away for both of us lol.

I have!!! DC: smithsonian museum is awesome, you'd like. First off, though, i better be seeing my wife. As for other things to do: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldgui...washington-dc/

Near DC is baltimore, MD, and the aquarium there is actually worth stopping at. It's really cool.

    Love it!

Hmmm...Chicago...it has been a while since i hung out there, but some neat things there would be...

    1) Shedd's Aquarium
    2) Museum of Science & Industry and the Museum of Natural History (I beleive that is what it is called). In fact there is an area downtown where all these museums are located.
    3) Navy Pier.
    4) Go up in the Sears Tower.
    5) Rush Street - A happenning night life area.

I am sure more will come to me...when I was younger I use to go down there at least once a year.

Note: Clothing is optional in Chicago. Not many people know this.

I agree you try Taven on Rush, ground zero on Rush Street (or, for a younger crowd, The Hunt Club, across the street) some night.

I don't actually work in DC. I meant come see me and I'll just show you around. I work 2 hours away from DC..although I'd love to be showered . I just got my BA too, so I won't even be working probably, which makes me more available to walk around.
Do you know where you're staying?

argh. Rush street (shivers) we call it the Viagra triangle locally. It's all touristy and a meat market.

Otherwise, the other tourist stuff...the Pier, Shedd and the Contemp Art is the way to go. I honestly suggest picking up the free paper (or looking online) chicagoreader.com and rooting around finding interesting local events rather than going to (what everyone always suggests) The chop house for dinner followed by Tavern on Rush for drinks ..followed by a strip club

Explore the city not just the tourist areas. It's a great and wonderful area. Perhaps find someone locally that will take you to all the amazing spots

I can show TWO hot chicks and a guy around DC then. I know of a great coffee place ::wink:: and there's some great museums. Too bad you guys are going to miss the cherry blossoms. Last weekend was prime, this weekend is the fest. I wanna see the SW'ers!!
I'll drive, we can even go to Alexandria, VA to a great little downtown area that I heart.
Please let me chauffer you alls around.

Agreed with Sophia_Ashley. I also advise having dinner at the Hancock building on the top floor. The view of the city at night is great!! Kind of expensive, but if you can swing, I definitely recommend it!

Definitely grab the Chicago Reader and check out the local events. Chicago usually has a ton of fun stuff going on...you're sure to find something you like. Also, the Museums are always great.

I'm not up to date on the bars anymore since it's been so long since I've been to one.

But, the other stuff I could tell you about. You can also find a carriage and take a carriage ride along the lake.

Uh, BTW...if you want some good, (real) Chicago style pizza...hit Giordanos on Rush. Nummchious!!!

When are you going to be in town?

    Thank you VG.

I Swear to god Rush street just makes me roll my eyes. It's as if a strip club exploded and the customers were to wander the street aimlessly seeking some girl with her tits exposed so that they could dry hump and talk at for hours.

The Green dolphin, The evil Olive (aka wicker park) is where you want to be. Not that those types arent' there... they are just cuter and typically not married

I do enjoy The Green Dolphin, too. (Did that come out too defensive?)
